Thanks. I do use it constantly when trying to help customers understand how the CV is supposed to be put together. Much easier to see someone do it as opposed to trying to explain it over the phone.

I tried putting one together with the smalls pointed at the other smalls. You weren't joking when you said they don't function properly. The star stays perfectly centered, while the cage moves. Fortunately, these things are cake to take apart and put together.

Thanks crash. Hey, how do you know if you have a race prepped cage and how do you tell? Also is it ok to use a star that has a few small chunks off one side? By the way my cage is chrome.

The race prepped CAGES have windows that are larger on one side to accommodate higher articulation angles. These are not needed in our applications. If you have a damaged star, I would not use it. After market 300M stars are about $100, and I don't know of any place that just sells the stock stars by themselves, so you may want to just buy a whole new unit world wide web dot my race shop dot com has stock 930s for around $100 currently.

what side does the line go toward for the drive flanges?

The line on the CV body always is supposed to go towards the flange of either the stub axle or the transaxle output flange. In other words, always away from the "half shaft".
