93-year-old Nazi guard on trial for his role at Auschwitz

Oskar Groening was a member of the Waffen SS stationed at Auschwitz. Now he's on trial in Germany, charged with being an accessory to mass murder. Mark Phillips reports on the case that's already seen testimony from an Auschwitz survivor.

Alex G As a Jewish person myself I can say personally I can forgive a 90 year old nazi jewelry collecter... Seriously even if he had a hand in killing it was a long time ago, its too late to put him in prison, and the moral guilt that follows him is enough to sate any my unforgiving thoughts into submission. Legit whats your argument against this guy? He joined an army opposite to that of the allies and worked at a concentration camp which he had no control over? Just let the old guy live the rest of his short life in peace damnit!

@@chetsenior7253and doing another wrong makes it right? I mean let’s actually have a conversation here. Trials after the war were set it place for all the Nazis. Yet this man wasnt sentenced at all his whole life until these newer generations whom grew up in fear of the stories they heard of the Nazis and how terrifying it is to be a German. War happens, I bet you would be shitting your pants if you heard what america has done in the Middle East. To its own people, yet it’s all forgotten about because you know “we’re the good guys”. Think for yourself for once and don’t be brain washed by leftish or rightish wing. That’s what they want for you.

@@amaralsaraji9431 That is simply not true. The difference is that Hamas are torturing the Palestinians, creating diseased minds for the children. And they attacked, raped, and recorded it and then shared the videos proudly on social media. That could NEVER happen in a western country, the parents would be SO ashamed. Of RAPE?? you aren't my son anymore. But no, not them, they are proud. They attacked, using the resources that were given to them to build factories to feed the people. If you enter my home, rape my friends and families, and laugh and enjoy it you are worse than the lowest animal. And there is no choice, the world must be freed from Hamas. With that said, Egypt should have open the borders to them years ago, as they requested. And remember, the PLO was formed years before any Israeli occupation. If Israel wasn't occupying land, what was the PLO liberating? The truth is that many Muslims will not accept anyone else in the world, it's baked into the culture of many from what I can see. With that said, the suffering is horrible. The hunger. But the blame must be placed where it belongs, look who started it, this hunger was not happening before they launched their rape, terror, and kidnapping campaign. The one in the videos that you celebrated, this is what they caused. Now everyone suffers

Howard's Channel - usually I don't respond to people like you, however, you seem uneducated so I'll give a kind reply. First, to be ignorant is to be uneducated, so it would be wise to purchase a dictionary! Secondly, Ive been to the holocaust museum and furthermore, my grandfather fought in WWII as a Marine Raider. I listened to his stories of island hoping in Japan and liberating internment camps. You have absolutely no idea of what happened in 1940 and I think you should take heed of your own advice.

She does realize that if he refused to do his duties he and his family would’ve been killed no? And someone else would’ve just come to replace him? I fully believe that everything that man did was under duress. Edit: also everything this man did was under direct order of his own government, the same government that’s prosecuting him.

Because he wasn't really guilty of anything. He was an accountant, didn't want to engage there, worked to disprove Holocaust deniers, and testified against his officer to get them jailed/executed. He wasn't charged back then because we actually understood justice and that this man didn't need jail time.
