90s Goth High School Story | 90s Goth Clothing Haul Try On
I hit the MOTHER LOAD of 90s Goth finds! 4 Gowns from the 90s from known Goth designers of the decade + a high school story about our old haunts & an accidental fetish fashion show. Song: Requiem In White - My Shame.
Пікірлер: 273
Watching all these gorgeous outfits makes me jealous... Those 90s Goth designers knew how to make a wonderful gown for which people would be on the lookout even 20 years later
Bell sleeves! All day, every day! Gorgeous haul & try on, Angela
I got a pair of underground winks for $3, brand new docs for $15, a 90s lip service top for $5, and a Shrine top for $2 at the thrift shop. wish I had the patience to sift through eBay for clothes, but I only use eBay for vinyl.
I wish they had goth clothing stores in my teenage years.... all we had in upstate ny was/is hot topic. lol. A lot of my teenage goth looks were my horribly sewn clothing. I remember one time trying to replicate a high waisted corset skirt from moi meme moitie let me tell you it feel apart in a matter of hours and I sent half of the school day with my clothing hanging by threads and safety pins. OMG those dresses!!!! D: I am drolling over those gorgeous fabrics and detailing.

Vi Merveilles Tell me about it. I found a place called Gothic Renaissance in NYC when I was 14. They had the most wonderful selection, but it was so expensive and my mother wasn't having it. So I had to stick to Hot Topic and Sears and just wear one black hoodie throughout high school. 😫

Awwww :c I went to gothic renaissance in 2011.... along w/ trash and vaudeville. Soooo much goodness, so much out of my price range. I ended up really wanting a tailcoat and was willing to shell out 500$ for it but they didn't have it in my size. But both stores were so lovely!!!

I wish I'd kept my stuff from back then, though I have gained some weight, my style us not all that different - that's one thing to remember with goth, it's a great investment, because the basics are timeless.
Your hauls always make me want to hit my on local thrift shop. Too bad the selection is mostly rubbish for guys.

I hear that lol But it just depends on what you're looking for. Is there a particular thing you look for when you go to the shops?

What I look for is simple: is it black? Does it fit? Can I fancy it up easily? Plenty of pants, but tops/shirts and jackets? Not so much.

Ah okay, I so hear you though for me, it's the reverse lol I can sometimes find tops but I have a harder time finding pants but then again, I do find a lot of my stuff in the women's aisle. Seriously, I found the most awesome women's leather vest and it's easily one of my best thriftstore finds to date lol
The black and purple crushed velvet dress is my favorite.
Oh my lawd, I remember those crushed velvet dresses.
With every video I kind of wish you were my gothmother (like gothic godmother). You are just too cool. You are #gothgoals
Damn, nice haul! And all for $50! As us Londoners say, 'you jammy dodger' (for taking a bold move and pulling it off).

plot twist: jammy dodgers are also a biscuit! (or a cookie, I suppose, to you!)
@lilpinkbear
7 жыл бұрын
Yes, a Jammy Dodger is a biscuit. The ones with just jam in are accidentally vegan too, so I can eat them. Yay! Great for dipping in tea. I think the use of Dodger was in reference to the Artful Dodger in Dickens' Oliver Twist (sneaky, sleight of hand, a chancer etc) but I guess the invention of the Jammy Dodger kind of meant the saying/meaning evolved and changed. My Dad's side of the family are proper cockneys so I grew up hearing a lot of Cockney slang that my family and myself still use today.
Your fashion show sounds like an event I tried out for in college. This was Royal Oak, MI "Noir Leather", goth/alternative fetish show. I guess my young bod was not near as awesome, nor as edgy as what they wanted. After donning bathing suit and letting them judge me front and back, they quietly sneered, snickered and said thanks for coming by. Rather turned me off to some people in the "scene". Great video and dresses. Really takes me back to 90's.
Holy shit! What a haul for $50!!! I remember flipping through those first issues of Gothic Beauty magazine and lusting after these dresses so hard. Ebay was indeed the savior of young goths everywhere.
I used to frequent Utopia Hicksville in the 80s and early 1990s, mainly to pick up rock shirts, posters, cheap shades, and DMs. Their clothing selection was much better in those days. I was even there the very minute I heard that Kurt Cobain died, stopping off to get something and kill time before some old friends' band's gig that evening on LI. That was harsh. The radio was on in the store, and we all heard that news. Given I grew up in fabulous Levittown, the mall and Utopia were places we hung out a lot at. The mall in those days was the place you'd go for your "new wave" clothes and such, Chess King and Merry Go Round, etc., and Utopia had more underground/city stuff without having to take the train all the way into NYC and go hit up Unique Boutique, Canal Jeans, Flip, Trash and V., and other such places.
Just wondering if you've ever heard of Moon Maiden Gothic Clothing their based in the UK and everything's handmade to order and fairly inexpensive especially if your in the UK but because of the exchange rate I have to plan my orders a bit still pretty affordable though. But yeah it's been around since 2003 their's so much velvet, a lot their pieces are very 90's,witchy and Renaissance-esque, it's like heaven. I just felt like it would be a shop you'd like if you haven't heard of it yet.

Man I love the purple one. I was lucky enough to have a mom who was goth in the 90s, and she kept a few of her gothic clothes which I inherited, so I already have the 2 begotten dresses shown. I just wish I was confident enough to wear them out or to school. Maybe one day.
Omg the purple one is absolutely gorgeous
I had a begotten dress it was black and burgany I love it I used to wear it with my black velvet cloak ! These dresses look amazing on you !
That neckline on the Begotten dress #1 is everything. So stunning, I love the Queen Anne/Sweetheart hybrids so much. I want one in my closet.
This is reminding me so much of meeting my best friend Cath in the early 90s. Ah, nostalgia.
Utopia moved across the street. Larger store. No basement. I haven't been in over 6 years. Not bad the second time I went there! I might go back there again, eventually!
The red/black dress was beautiful, but what really blew me away was the blue/black dress. The blue colour against the black shined like a deep neon. I'm not normally a fan of blue, but that shade of blue in that dress was STUNNING!!
This was all I wanted as a child. Bring it baaaaaaack....
After all this time , i still enjoy listening to you and watching your videos every week , You're a one of kind person , Thank you for sharing all of these experiences with us

These pieces are timeless.
depop is also really good for vintage goth stuff! I miss the stores in Chicago called "The Alley" and "The Dungeon" * owned by The Alley, just down the block *. The Alley had Lip Service, Living Dead Souls, Tripp, Morbid Threads, all that stuff and the basement had all the goth shoes like Demonia and T.U.K. the middle level was a tattoo/piercing place . The Dungeon had all the fetish stuff like Latex corsets and other bondage gear and fetish boots like the ballet boots

Dang!!!! That's an amazing deal! I remember being a little girl and into my teens wanting dresses like these but they were always so expensive and out of reach price wise. They are so gorgeous, congrats on finding them.
I had these dresses back in the day! Its nice to see them again and the music you played! God I miss this!!!
i always love hearing your stories 💕 and you look lovely in velvet
your voice mixed with the background music you chose is kind of hypnotic...
The dresses look great on you and they were a steal! I have my own sewing business and I make theses type of styles often. Cheers!
I'm so envious. I wish I had that dress from the craft! Every time I would watch that scene, I would just be mesmerized by how beautiful and stunning Nancy looked in that dress . It looks great on you too.
i LOOOVE those dresses, that style is my favorite. The only thing missing is a cape.

Yess great finds. I remember seeing Begotten dresses and clothing in a local store here in Tx called blue moon back in the 90's and my friends and I would go in there and drool over them.
I honestly look up to you so much. I am a baby bat myself, but you are so wise and have so much life experience and stories. I aspire to be you when I grow into an adult. Your videos make me nostalgic for something I have never got to live through. I wish I could have been a teen in the 90's that didn't have all this technology getting in the way. I hope I can get to have my teen experiences to be able to hope valuable and just to have to look back on. Ooh can you pleasssse do a tutorial on that makeup look? 😩 :)
I have that Dress/Tunic by Eternal Love!!! I wear mine with a simple pair of wider legged pants, or I layer it with a long dress and a petticoat underneath... I had so much more from that label....but then in 2013 I got a Gastric Bypass surgery so everything I had collected was way...wayyyy to big...and I sold everything... But...I'm planning to buy back as much I can what I had from Eternal Love only now in size S/M instead of XXXL! ;-)
Beautiful dresses =) and I Love your Stories
Omg I so love the dresses... And also look so gorgeous! 🦇

'Eternal Love' makes it. I hope you find one!
I love those dresses you got - especially that one with the really, really BIG sleeves. The split sleeve one was pretty snazzy too. They all flatter you, and you look really awesome in them. I have only managed to snag 2 vintage '90s dresses on eBay, and whenever I find one, they end up subject to something of a bidding war. I'm making do with tracking down the tops and skirts in the style and connecting them with a corset. I love that '90s Romantic Goth aesthetic
Ok awesome story aside, but I love this makeup look on you. I just love the winged liner and red lip. So simple and pretty!
Love your videos, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us! 😊Please do a make up routine tutorial soon. ✨

I'll definitely check it out and see if I can stumble over anything I like. I've been transitioning back to a darkly-inclined wardrobe for the past 8 months or so after a character from a dating sim game, of all things, reminded me how much I missed dressing this way. (He's a 90s goth, too, and I had a lot of ~feelings~ about it.) I can't rule out any options in my quest!
OMG you look just like Morticia in that third dress! Love!
💔 I'm so incredibly jealous of that haul! I have one Cykxtees dress I bought at hot topic in the early 00s and it still fits. There used to be a store called Diversions here in Orlando and I would go in there and just DREAM of maybe being able to buy one of the dresses they had there. Sadly it closed before I ever had a chance. I keep hoping maybe one day the owner will at least open a web store. I've managed to do very well for myself in finding fancy goth clothes - cobbled together an outfit similar to that last dress from a broomstick skirt I have and a top from Holy Clothing.
Hey! Did you get a new computer? The look is crisper and nicer. I TOTALLY remember FUNHOUSE!!!! That was the BEST place! wow you took me back. I almost forgot about that place. Great Haul BTW. Love the second dress with Black and purple. Good stuff. =)
I forget the name of the store, but it was in NJ. A friend took me there, and the place was mostly geared toward the rockabilly scene. But we go in, and my friend finds a shirt similar to that corset you described. It was a short sleeve shirt, completely rubber. But you had to actually pull it on, there was no closure. I only remember this because he tried it on, and we literally spent over an hour trying to get him out of it. LOL! I do not miss rubber clothing! Not one bit! LOL!
I really like the last dress, mostly because I love that movie so much.
I still watch this video now I'm still so insanely jealous of those dresses. Sooooo want them.
Wow.. flashback time.. The good thing about the mid to late 90s was the part where the tech boom was crazy good for our pocketbooks. That meant having the cash for stuff.. Things was though that the mens cloths pretty much sucked.. So, I stuck with what I learned in the 80's.. Cignal went out of business along with the rest of Merry Go Round in about 1995 or 1996 just as they went under I managed to score a nice load of well made mens stuff in black. Black dress pants with room to move in, a couple of really comfortable sport coats, and a pile of black rayon shirts with various sorts of collars.. All of that allowed me to sport a nice Nick Cave going to the opera look.. Then around the end of the decade Bachrach discovered silk, and so did I.. It was 98 or 99 when I bought the black leather sport coat that I am still wearing today. Granted, I had to make a deal with the devil to get it. I gave up a sport coat that I had purchased in 88. I had replaced the buttons with fancy skull buttons and just kept repairing it as it kept looking good.. Good news is I still have all the shoes from back then. Including pointy toe doc martins!
Amazing. I love how the second one looks on you. I can't believe what a great deal you got. :)

Love your channel! I love your style! I love goth style in general, but the classic 90´s style is my favorite.
Omg... I Really.. wish I was a teenager in the 90s . Unfortunately.. I was a little girl.. (yes I was into spooky things.. and I was Really into black.. and SOME.. small gothic things..) and.. (god bless my mother) but.. she .. kinda sheltered me from things.. but.. in saying.. I’m soo glad.. I have figured out .. how beautiful.. the darkness.. can really be! And .. I want to be .. as young as I feel.. and be .. young at heart❤️ as a goth🖤 forever!!!!!!!! I forever.. have respect for this.. I also .. had a vision.. that I was a goth.. and I had red walls . (It was almost like a dream.. come true!) haha . Anyways..) and I was lighting red candles. And doing a spell. And I had dolls and such.. and it was me. But kind of as someone else.. and.. from then on.. I wanted to be .. goth!!!! And .. it was .. amazingly beautiful.. and insane.. to think I’m gothic now!!!!!! 🖤😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤 !!!!!!!!!!

Angela Benedict have you ever heard of the brand called Eternal Love? Apparently they sell some gothic dresses, skirts, and jackets on Ebay. You should definitely check it out
I can't wait to check this website out. Thank you for sharing. I'll probably share the website on my amino group. we're doing a goth ootd under $20 challenge.
The only 2 goth shops in Hawaii are owned by the same person, and my boyfriend used to go there often (he knows the owner, apparently being good friends with him). My friend used to work there (as a manager) before getting a job at TJ Maxx and then moving to California. That's where I bought my first "real" goth chocker (I don't consider the goth chockers from Claire's to be real goth chockers). The prices there were fairly reasonable. However, they cater mostly to the nerdy goth variety, so it's definitely not for goths who aren't nerds.
Dang it Angela, just get out there and start your own Ethereal Goth band already! xD Haha but seriously, fun video, you rock those 90s style dresses beautifully and bell sleeves... BELL SLEEVES
