    Hey guys, a little history, the autotune of Kirstie on the Cher song is paying homage to Cher's record, which was the very first record using autotune....Pentatonix are just GENIUS'. !!!!

    And if they're going to react to the autotuning, why not react already in the Blue one, where there were...a LOT...of autotune? Other than that, I can guarantee you that most of the Pentatonix songs have some sort of tuning.

  • @sp0ngeb00b7

    @sp0ngeb00b7

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@Henoik It was also very obviously *emphasised* in Blue (like Believe) because of the sound of the original record, a lot of PTX fans just neglect to bring this up. You're not smart for pointing that out, you really think they released this medley w the Blue part thinking no one would notice the autotune? It's obviously there for effect. And of course they use some pitch correction, 99% of artists do, there is no shame in it. Sometimes one take is better than the other, but you might just want to make a tweak to it, it happens all the time. Doesn't mean they can't replicate the non-exaggerated parts live.

    They’ve been very open about the auto tune on Believe and did it as a tribute as Cher was the first to use it. I have some Pentatonix suggestions: Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Hallelujah ( their biggest hit so far), Amazing Grace and Bohemian Rhapsody. Thanks guys!

    Very true on Hallelujah, there's only over 600 million views. Plus, it has a great Mitch slap. However, they are not ready for the ultimate Mitch slap. Which is Aha! Singapore star vista. The Avi and Mitch show. It has an Avi gut kick and the ultimate Mitch slap. But the blokes really need to work up to that.

    Share absolutely was not the first person to use auto-tune, it has been around for quite a while. She is just the first person of note to use it in an artistic way in a major chart topping song where it was purposely supposed to be noticed.

  • @DavidStruveDesigns

    @DavidStruveDesigns

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@theshadowfax239 She was the first to use the software called AutoTune, which was invented in 1997 (her song "Believe" came out in 1998) and finally enabled not only fast and accurate pitch alterations but also for the first time allowed live performances to be altered on the fly. You're thinking about pitch correction / pitch bending, which is actually a different (albeit related) way of doing things, and it was extremely difficult to do, was tedious and incredibly expensive. It was also extremely limited all the way until the late 70s (when computers started to appear on the scene, and producers could finally see the music/vocals in wave form which made pitch issues much easier to spot) because changing things TOO much resulted in sound artifacts, so it's usefulness was rather limited. It also mostly involved removing the off-pitch parts and splicing in new samples that were either the correct pitch or altered by speeding up or slowing down the new sample to properly match, or re-pitching the entire vocal recording / entire track completely. So whilst you were sort-of correct, you were also sort-of wrong too. Either way, I honestly don't envy the poor producers and editors who had to try and correct someone's off-pitching singing before AutoTune came along, sounds like it was an absolute nightmare of a headache to deal with!!

About 95% of their covers they use no instruments or auto tune. Is known for his AMAZING riffs and runs and VERY soulful voice. 👉Kirstie (Kirstin) Maldonado - mezzo soprano/alto (changes her look A LOT) 👉Mitch Grassi (guy with high voice) counter tenor (changes his look A LOOOOOOT) They added a bass from California ...👉Avi Kaplan (Ah-vee) ((he was a member from 2011 to the end of 2017)) bass *basso profundo*, baritone, overtone. After seeing their live performances and other songs that don't use autotune, I can say that songs that they now use autotune on doesn't phase me. It's just simply a style change and not a way to assess their ability since, well, we already know how good they are. It's simply just a tool now. I would recommend seeing a live performance if you want to ultimately assess them, but yea... it's incredible.

    They did it as a tribute to Cher. They did it on purpose. It's not a cheat. U can't do that without the auto tune. Cher was the first one to ever use it. They didn't heavily use it. Smh

    Just a correction that Cher was not the first to use auto-tune. Roger & Zapp were using it well before.

    Oh, Hey...on that Cinco De Mayo deal....try to get ahold of a beer called Victoria....It's basically the Matriarch of the whole Modelo family of Mexican beers (Which was born of Belgian and German Brewmeisters brought to Mexico in the 1860's) It's a light to amber Mexican Lager. Fantastic beer.

    You can't sing Cher's song without autotune, is like obligated if you want to pay a good rendition.

    Just discovering Pentatonix??? Try Gold (cover). The dub done here to honor Cher’s version is almost done on the Gold cover but it’s ALL Mitch. He is an amazing singer. Also the bass is their original person. He is a basso profundo but he has a tremendous range up to st least a medium tenor. For an original song they wrote try Run To You. Awesome! Then for fun, try Cheerleader (cover). M
