Perhaps I should sing a psalm in English... like in Acts1 we all hear the word in our own tongue when a moment in time is large and important enough a conjunction occurs or shoud I sing in a tongue? its weird after I ecord it I hear english word speak out to me and maybe other people do too....

BTW just read psalm 33... a masterpiece... I try not to get too biblical because praying to the grand creator of all things seems more potent and jesus knew not these times... and i feel fire and brimstone preachers bring death upon themselves... we need to be positive and pray with hand and foot

To Dragon: this is beautiful music! Jesus Christ (Yeshua HaMashiach) was not here bodily as the Messiah of Israel at that time; however, The Lord is Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent! Think of the Hebrew prophets, whether Isaiah, Ezekiel, Joel, Hosea, Daniel, Elijah, Elisha, Obadiah, Amos, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Micah, Malachi and Jeremiah: did they not also preach dire warnings to ancient Israel for the purpose of bringing them to Repentance and back to the LORD? the same can be said of the New Testament writers who warn us of the judgment to come upon them who reject Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord, for the purpose of bringing us all to Repentance? God bless you, and I pray for you that you will remember that it's not God's Will that any should perish, but that all will come to the Knowledge of the Truth! Scripture tells us to not despise the chastening of the LORD; for whom the LORD loveth He chasteneth, even as a father the son in whom he delights!!

Reading 1 Samuel. I was led to th stories of King Saul and then ofcourse little David. The story of King Saul and how after he's been afflicted by an evil spirit calls for David (filled with the Holy Spirit of God) to play thd lyre for him and verse 23 reads "Whenever the spirit from God came on Saul, David would take up his lyre and play. Then relief would come to Saul; he would feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him." 1 Samuel 16:23 NIV Had to come and find out what this instrument actually sounds like. Absolutely beautiful 🥰 Bible study is always so fascinating with you Holy Spirit, thank you❤️

Was not brought here through divinity but through honest admiration of the ancient world. A religious review of this Era finds many patterns, rules and restrictions....but a musical approach finds commonality with in melody, rhythm and cadence. I love music. I love ancient cultures. Ancient Egypt has been fetishized and distorted to fit a western ideal, but songs like this preserve their true essence .

Glad you enjoy the 'musical adventures in time travel'! Most of my attempts at evoking ancient Biblical lyre music, is in fact, the result of creating a ' musical collage' - taking traditional Jewish melodies out of their klezmer or traditional sacred vocal settings and transforming their original meaning by arranging for the ancient timbre of recreated 10-string lyre. The most fascinating thing I learnt from this exercise, was just how perfectly these traditional Jewush melodies fit the 10-strings of a lyre - just maybe, the timeless sounding musical modes of traditional Jewish music might have even had their origin on the strings of the original ancient 10-string Biblical lyre of the Levites? A real possibility!

Glad you like it! The idea behind my ancient Biblical lyre-themed albums, was to create a 'musical collage' - taking traditional Jewish sacred & instrumental klezmer melodies out of their traditional context & rearranging them for the ancient, exotic timbre of my 10-string lyre...thus completely changing the original aesthetic meaning of the original melodies into an ancient 'Middle Eastern Magic Carpet Ride' back to Biblical times! Indeed, the ancient musical modes found in traditional Jewish music fitted the 10 strings of my lyre so perfectly, that just maybe, these modes may have had their origin on the 10 strings of the original Biblical kinnor...the lyre of the Levites!

Glad you like it! The best quality & most affordable modern evocation of a 10 string Biblical lyre, is almost certainly the 'Davidic Harp' made by Marini Made Harps: www.marinimadeharps.com/davidic.htm Cheaper factory made instruments are available from Mid East Ethnic Instruments, but I always feel it is false economy to Beattock with an instrument which sounds dull & unresponsive. I did used to give a few online lyrexlessons on WhatsApp, but having so many part-time jobs in between my musical projects and being confined to very specific GMT makes time slots makes providing regular lessons rather tricky. Thanks so much for your interest in my music! In answer to your question, do feel free to feature my music on your own KZread channel, but please note, that since all my tracks have been copyright registered, KZread automatically generates copyright notices & will display a few ads in the video etc - don't worry about this, as it will not affect the status of your channel (the ads placed in videos by any other creator which featuries my music simply generates a few pennies of 'royalties' back to me). If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask 😀

I found it hard enough trying to flog the physical CD's of my very first album whose manufacture I had to pay for out of my own pocket! 16 years on, and I still have over 200 of the infernal things cluttering my spare room! Spotify & it's similar offspring is mercifully the future of music for the struggling independent artist - for a one-off payment of no more than 80 USD, I can get a new album out to a current audience of almost 40,000 listeners!

Is this based on some Jewish(?) music? Or is it just the lyre? You write the music Thanks in advance 🕎

Most of the music featured my arrangements of traditional Jewish instrumental music (klezmer melodies) & traditional Jewish sacred melodies - arranged for some of my modern evocations of the 10-string Biblical lyre (kinnor); which was once played by my Levite ancestors in the Temple of Jerusalem to accompany the Levitical Choir during the ancient Temple services - extreme 'roots music'!

Hello! Appreciate your talent. As a musician myself, I am curious about your compositional process - how do you go about creating all these different pieces? What do you identify as the inherent integrity of each piece which makes it itself and not another piece?

I appreciate your interest in my music! An interesting question. The answer lies, in what I would call the perfect match between the type of musician I am (improvisatory & experimental) & the type of instrument the recreated lyre is... I am self-taught on the lyre - I could not bear the suffocating restrictions of formal music lessons I had as a child & for decades, sought to find a way of creating music free of all the bland, uniform formalities I endured scraping through A' level music at 18! With the lyre, technicality is no longer important - minimalistic, medtitative music simply flows from the strings! I grew to love the distinctive expressive qualities of the ancient modes, brought into HD focus when I also learnt about tuning in just intonation. I generally freely improvise first, recording my ideas on my cell phone! I then evaluate the best ideas I roughly recorded, re-learn & develop these, before recording, mixing & mastering the final fruits of these ideas. There are quite a lot of overlapping motifs between melodies, as a consequence of the simplicity of having just 9 - 11 strings to work with & the possibilities & limitations of playing techniques (eg, tremolo drones, block & strum harmonies, pure plucked 5ths & 4ths to frame melodic lines etc) - but these actually define individualistic style behind the melodic ideas.
