    Thank you as always for being so transparent with the reality of life's little setbacks and pauses. It is so inspiring to me to see you taking time for your mental and emotional health and prioritizing your family even while running multiple businesses and writing books. ❤ Also, I am SO here for the extra long content! 😂 These talks keep me motivated while doing dishes and laundry and mopping so that when the time for writing comes I am all geared up!

    As someone who had to give up the rest of their family too to get away, besides for a few select people, you are allowed to mourn and the people we mourn can feel us honoring them even if we aren't with everyone else, and because you don't have to perform anymore you can mourn as complicated as you want. I wish you nothing but peace.

    My daughter spent last week in the hospital with meningitis, which spread to her brain causing some pretty terrifying neurological issues. She’s doing much better now, but obviously it put a lot of things into perspective and now I will be redoing my entire plan to focus on things that really matter.

    I just have had to face this myself. I was kicked out when I was 19 after my biological mom contacted me. When I confronted my adopted parents 5 years later, they denied their abusive behavior. Fast forward to 2022 my adopted dad and brother pass within 2 months of each other. I felt exactly how you felt. I had a good cry and moved on. I can't control what my adopted family thinks, but like you, the myth they perpetuate is not the me of now and they have not reached out to discover this. ❤❤❤❤❤❤

    "It's an act of self-care and self-love to say I'm not going to overburden myself or expect the impossible. I'm going to try to be as realistic as possible while still following my dreams." I love this. Recent real life concerns mean I just now finished putting stickies on my Kanban (though planning for Q2 was already done). The entire time Common Sense as avatar whispered in my ear, "Do you have longer quarters than other people?" Because it's jammed. This quarter I'm just giving myself grace. The stickies bristling like that make me energized. If they're all still there end of quarter, at least I'll know I tried and listed everything I thought I could do and really with all my heart wanted to do. Love this video. Thank you!

    I'm soooo sorry for your loss. 32:20 you can get answers to these thoughts. Quietly sit in front of your alter and ponder each question (you can even write them down before hand)... Stay open and relaxed. Notice how you feel as you reflect on each question... Staying relaxed and comfortable or anxious and irritated. Those are your answers. I do this with my gma. Although we weren't estranged, there were rough patches. And just now, I got... those things are not important in the larger scheme of things. She loved me then and she loves me now. I believe that when someone dies, the veil is lifted and they see the truth. I believe he can now see the truth and what's in your heart and I'm sure he's the Uncle you remember as a child. Here's another comment to screen shot and put up somewhere where you can see it in your time of morning. Sending lots of love 💖 from sunny 🌞 Arizona 🌵. Take care of yourself and each other 😷

    I am only on 18 minutes and find this an outstanding share. Thank you so much. I loved it when you said basically, it's not a failure of yourself, but just that the methods, systems, or goals you created or didn't create or do is the reason why your goals were not met. I totally agree. I do think what I consider success has a lot to do with planning, thinking, and rethinking how, when, what, where, and why you do things. You are very driven and I so much appreciate you and your sharing.

    Sarra, thank you for sharing about your family. I feel like you never know when your message reaches someone who needs it. I found your sharing helpful. I recently have become estranged from certain in-laws after they verbally came after me. I realized, like you, that it’s impossible to let people like that stay near you. Then others jump on the bandwagon and you become the family gossip. It hurt a lot because I thought they were family and the only thing they want to believe is what they are told or think-despite not really seeing me in years or my side of things. Also, I like your message that you planned to have this great writing retreat and bad news derailed you. We only see the good things that happen and not that life and hard things come at everyone. Thank you for always keeping it real.♥️

From a fellow survivor of a narcissistic family member (and the accompanying flying monkeys too), I’m very proud of you for protecting your peace. But I understand the weird grief too… it is SHOCKING how much damage these people can wreak (sp?) and the ripple effects they cause! I also live in the Metroplex and would not enjoy my emotions escaping in the middle of the Anatole. 😬👀😅 I’ve just said a prayer for you and thanked the Lord for giving you such a sweet nuclear family (George + your kids) to buoy your strength. Thank you so much for sharing about the complexities of complex grief when we come from family dynamics that are challenging. My mother passed in 2019, my grandmother (her mother) in 2020, my dad in 2022. And while we talked I had boundaries that were hard due to toxicity it made the grief more complex. Grieving what was, what wasn’t and what could’ve been is challenging medicine. I found moments of anger because dysfunction robs us all and also I’m also proud of the courage and strength it takes to set boundaries to choose life. May your heart be held compassionately as you continue to move through the process. 🫶🏼

    I'm so sorry for the loss of your uncle. That big hallway wall calendar is good for your kids to see Mom's schedule too! Do you ever add more sticky notes/tasks as you go throughout the quarter? How do you break down a brand new book project into doable tasks?

  • @HeartBreathings

    @HeartBreathings

    Ай бұрын

    Such good questions! I do sometimes add sticky notes. So right now, I have a placeholder sticky note to "Create my audiobook publishing plan". But once I actually create the plan, I'll add the individual tasks to the board. With a book project, I've tried different things, but what works best for me is breaking down multiple pieces of that as different projects. So "New book Setup" is one project broken down into all the setup things like plotting sheets, notebook setup, color code decisions, file setup. Then "New book plot" is another project where I break down my plotting steps like brainstorming, character sheets, act 1, act 2, etc. Then "New book draft" is another project where I tend to just do 1,000 words each on sticky notes for the anticipated draft. The more I break it down, the easier it is to manage it for me!

    I think sharing reality is not wrong, you share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with ❤ Dealing with family is not always easy but is important to set boundaries ❤ My plans... aren't planning 😅 this year has just been hitting me hard and even if I felt ok to do a "camp nano" 25k goal as it's transcribing as of today I am at less than 3k. I realize now that I should make doing things to up my energy a priority because I am feeling super tired and I fall into the no effort tasks for my "me time" because I'm using all my energy in my kids stuff and the essential house work... also the spring rain that has stayed consistent in my area since the start of April doesn't help😅 I keep telling myself that whats matter is that I do at least a little because I'll get to the end eventually ❤Big hugs

    I think that whether you were there or not. He would know that it's okay. He would know that he's on your mind, Sarra. I mean, you're writing a book that seems so influenced by him. I don't think he'd be upset that you weren't there. If he loved you like you feel he did, then he'd be proud that you made the decision to save yourself over staying, whether it meant losing everyone or just that one person. I think he'd think you made the right choice. 💙💙💙

    First of all, it was great to meet you in person at Go Wild. Second, I needed this video! I have had a really bumpy/slow start this year but really want to restart my HB90 system and my boards. I always say it doesn’t really matter when you start, as long as you start. Thanks for your insight and inspiration 😊

    Also, I wrote that comment above part way through your video. As someone who had a really weird/rocky relationship from my father, I’m so sorry for your loss. My father died 7 years ago and I think one of the hardest parts of the grieving process for me was coming to terms that when he passed away, we lost the chance to ever reconnect or make changes in our relationship. Sending you lots of love 💕

    Cutting out family is always hard, especially when there is a feeling of guilt. I cut out my aunt last year and have to live with the fact that I "bother" my other family members that I will not meet anywhere she is. So when there is a birthday party and she is there, I won't go. I am okay with that, even though I feel more and more that my other family members want me to get in contact again. But I won't. I rather be a burden than getting hurt over and over again.

    I am so excited for Go Wild! I planned for Q2 but I am not starting any tasks until I get back next week! I have gotten a few things done but I wanted to make sure I could prep for the trip and not pressure myself into other tasks! I feel good about my prep and what I have accomplished the first few weeks of April! Here's to a strong Q2 when I return!

    Hey Sarra. you said 'laughable' and I was already giggling. LOL I have my year at a glance board (same as your), my kan ban board, a monthly desk blotter calendar on the front of the fridge and a monthly cleaning calendar on the front of the freezer in the laundry room (first thing I see when I come out in the morning). so yeah, more and more I'm beginning to think we were sisters or at least besties in another life LOL You can plan now... a friend of mine did 13 gifts for her son's birthday. they were smallest to largest, some funny/ cute leading to the larger gift scattered throughout the day. I missed that with my daughter and my grand girls. Hmmm maybe do something for my husband leading up to his retirement. Hmmm Also, Procrastiplan isn't on Etsy anymore. she's moved to her own site. Love seeing your process. Creative Blessings & Hugs!

    At some point can you talk a little bit about why you're moving from Notion to Asana? I'm a huge notion fan so wondering what works better for you in Asana.

  • @HeartBreathings

    @HeartBreathings

    Ай бұрын

    With notion you just have to build out everything you want it to do and it's tougher to set team deadlines and create a clear to do list for each team member without taking the time to get it right and teach everyone how to use what you built. Asana is just made to be that way so it's working how you need it to in 1 minute. I just hit a point where I was needing to move forward faster and without having to be creative in the setup.

    Same *hugs* my mother is insanly toxic and emotionally abusive. She caused me so much stress, weight gain, self deleting thoughts, severe anxiety. I had to change my number. When I cut her out my life, I lost family I love. I can't call them because they'll give her my number because she harasses them and bullies them for it. I miss so much of my family but I cherish the memories I had with them but I cannot have that toxic woman in my life. *hugs* to you.

  • @HeartBreathings

    @HeartBreathings

    Yes we are still using notion for some things but we need to streamline the way we organize projects and tasks and it was just adding too much time to build things out in notion. So, Asana it is for team projects!

    I think you need to do a dedicated video on your alphasmart and your freewrite, especially on how you customized them and review and comparison. I have an alphasmart (because I saw you with one lol) and I have been eyeballing the freewrite but there are not that many reviews and especially on the alpha model.
