Slight correction (with respect) regarding event DJing for weddings and such. Most of the time, clients are going to expect that you have your own live gear (speakers, mixers, etc), or rent gear. That will cost money.

It's funny because number 2 is bassicly my job except I have a whole lot more variety event wise usually big festivals in the event season and smaller random jobs throughtout the off season

Venues will not backline gear unless you are working with established clubs, venues, promoters, or production teams. Most often starting out as DJ, you will be using your own gear.

ok actually that Live Sound Engineer thing is good to know I'm not old enough to do stuff like Teaching or Renting out a studio or DJing (because I doubt they would want a 16 year old even if I could do it), but I know there's somewhere in town where they have live shows and I'm sure they wouldn't mind the help

@@officialskullfadermusic For sure! Being in a band would help you play gigs but djing big festivals I think just from a safeguarding point of view it probably wouldn't be responsible to have such a young person playing in an environment with lots of adults

Seriously you feel it takes no talent to be a wedding DJ? When was the last wedding you attended?? The amount of formalities and detail that go into a wedding these days is off the charts. People don’t want “we are family” anymore. They want a club atmosphere…I could go on…so please don’t dismiss things you obviously have no clue about. Meanwhile festival DJs literally press play on a pre recorded set

Use the next couple years of your life to really dive deep and improve your skills. Once you’re on the other side of that process, you’ll be able to skip a lot of steps if you decide to do music as a job!! 😃

Your first point is terrible advice lol. Event djing requires money for live audio equipment, dj mixers and more. Could cost hundreds or thousands up front. Also people at events are not looking for something “more interesting than an iPod” they’re looking for pros who can properly MC and keep people dancing. Some of the most talented djs I’ve ever met are wedding djs, they keep multiple generations of people dancing for hours. If you’ve never DJ’d before DJ’ing a wedding is a bad place to start
