@@kbanghart Property taxes are typically in the range of about 1% of the purchase price amount of the home. There's a more complex system that the tax assessor uses to calculate the cost, but 1% is generally in the ballpark of what it will cost.

hi Varaah, a few positives about Springfield include the developing downtown area, Willamalane Parks and Rec (they've done an excellent job over the past several years improving recreation options), and the close proximity to both Eugene and the Cascade Mountains. Here to help if you'd like to discuss Springfield in more detail.

When I left in 2018, rent was literally $575 for a studio apartment including utilities. Or like $400-$500 for a room in a nice house. Unless it's doubled in the last four years, I have to argue your last point about rent. Eugene is economically fairly impoverished, and it really shows in the rents and the wages. Compare that to any other major city in the United States where the lowest rent you'll find is $1000 for a room and $575 for a studio apartment sounds like a dream. Best of luck out there.

All of the things mentioned in the video are minimized, but very true. There is no housing, thats why there in tents or vans or rv parks or sidewalks. it does rain, like 5 feet a year, which means you are wet 9 months of the year, then you sweat for 3. there is traffic, at the 1st of the month when everyone gets there food stamp benefits, that's when KROGER and Safeway jack up the prices. There are homeless, because Oregonians know what its like to suffer, they have a heart and try to accommodate those in need, and those in need flock to eugene by the thousands, the word is out, you want it for free, go to eugene. don't come here. and those that are here from somewhere, LEAVE go back to there..

With all due respect, I find Eugene to be the worst place for driving in the whole state. Encounters with road rage drivers are common, and the beltline is incredibly dangerous with reckless drivers causing accidents every day. If you are driving anywhere in the afternoon, plan on doing a lot of sitting at traffic lights in bumper to bumper traffic.
