Good points Antonio. But regarding the bald commercial, some guys can pull it off and should rather than dumping money into products that don’t do anything. Know when it’s time to let go and adjust. Work on confidence and accepting yourself. Work on diet and exercise. Make your body look great and no one will notice your hair.

I'm 24 and slightly thinning, yet I'm also very fit too, moreso than many of my peers. I also have a younger-ish face, but at some point, completely Shaving would look 10× better than just letting it thin on top, and there's no way I'm going to spend money on these products. Sometimes the bald look can make you look younger too, so I completely agree

it depends though on how you lose your hair. I lost my hairin my 30s, and it got really thin in the front and then all over the top and I just shaved it period I'm very fit and probably when I'm in my 50s I'll grow my hair back out period I have a young looking face tdo people definitely notwhen you're in your late 20s and 30s. And it was a definite, a confidence deterrent. If you lose your hair like jude law then absolulily keep it period. But I could tell you from experience being the wrong end of hair jokes was not fun when you're in the dating world

i am 30. while i started with flat fronts listening to you and Aaron, in the last couple of years, I prefer to have moved towards pleats and high waisted trousers because they lengthen the legs and drape better. of course, that also means that I have moved a bit further away from slim clothes, to something a little more relaxed, yet tailored, and that drapes better. fathers and grandfathers are likely to wear pleats but with super baggy pants, including leg openings and full breaks. majority of the people will do flat fronts and slim trousers. when you know and make the decision to stand out, and do it properly, pleats actually make you look like you know what you are doing!

Antonio is right on about cuts, material, fit and what image you are projecting. I am older but I also understand what is classic, what is a fad and what is outdated. Sometimes you can use a dated piece if in the proper setting, like a retro party or a reunion where a vintage piece would help define your era and maybe get a few familiarity smiles and thumbs up for having the guts to do it. That being said, there is a time and place for that and it's not everyday. Pleated pants can help if you are packing a little extra or sit a lot. But that's one or maybe two, not six. I had a tailor redo a classic light grey double breasted real wool suit from the 90s for me, found among the boxes I had been moving around with since the 90s. Jacket still fit like a glove, no changes needed. The pants had two small pleats which are hidden by the jacket so just cut down the leg width a bit and that was it. With the right shirt, tie and shoes it definitely turns heads for all the right reasons. Great advice as always, Antonio. Keep making guys look good!

Pleats are very stylish these days. Especially in the bespoke world. It’s the 80s and 90s baggy pleats with too much crotch that looked awful. I think older guys can pull off suspenders. It’s harder for young men to pull off and was frowned on Wall St (blue/grey suit, white shirt, red/blue tie, black shoes/belt/socks). As for shoes… grown men. No basketball shoes (unless you’re playing ball), no sneakers when going out for the evening, no blocky squared toe shoes, no Work boots (if not working), no Uggs, no sandals with socks, no slippers in public. YES to a good pair of loafers, oxfords, wingtips, in the summer boat shoes or driving mocks. If you’re on vacation at the beach, sandals are OK but upgrade from the TEVO sandals. If you’re on vacation and walking a lot a good pair of running shoes is ok, at least during the day. As evening wear, NO.

also consider that items could be upcycled or recoloured (especially cotton), there's no need to fuel a throwaway society. I do feel that there is limited reasons to let a nice leather piece fade, reconditioning and leather care are a must, for some items leather repair may be viable. Neutral coloured timeless clothing is the sweet spot

The most ironic thing out of all of this is classic pieces makes you look old and out-dated. No one, NO ONE, will look at some graphic tee or studded pants from 10 years ago and think "oh he looks old", because young people these days DO DRESS LIKE THAT. Wearing fitted polo and chinos makes you look old. Wearing classic jacket makes you look old. Wearing a sports jacket makes you look old. If you want to look young, you must follow the trends. the biggest problem with pleated pants is similar to the issue with capri pants for women, or those below-the-knee cargo shorts that were so popular 15+ years ago. They make you look heavier. If you're skinny, looking like you have an extra 5-10 pounds on your mid-section isn't an issue. But if you're average or bigger, why make yourself look heavier?

Most of the time what some associate with old people, will inevitable become chic in a decade or so, and then become associated with young people. Just look at flat caps. 10 years ago people wouldn't have been caught dead wearing them because it was something only old men wore. Now that most of those have passed and because of shows like Peaky Blinders you see them everywhere one 20somethings.

Some of those numbers might be WAY off, but Saville Row guy who likes to argue with me will blow a gasket when he sees wool trousers only lasting 4 years instead of 40 and leather jackets can last a generation or two? Also, I just consider pleated pants more formal than flat front ones for pretty much any age.

But I’am old and it always amazes me on how people with hair comment on what we should do . Ready to embrace being old, ugly and bald and giving completely up on fashion, grooming etc born ugly and just going to die just as ugly no matter what I do or don’t do.

Did he say pleats are hard to find and you’d have to purposely set out to look for them? What style planet is he on. Pleats are in again and they are everywhere

Im surprised the comfort footwear is considered the contentious point. For me, its never stick anything up your nose - not your fingers, tweezers, electric hair cutter, or any other cutlery. Just dont. Stop. The discomfort you experience after cutting the nose hair too deeply will teach you a great lesson. If you cant shave the hairs with a flat razor that stick out, then you probably arent shaving yet. As for footwear - flip-flops, crocks and other stupid shoes are for the beach and nowhere else. Children wear flip-flops, not men. Its like shorts - dress in a manner that if an emergency broke out, you are not going to die because you couldnt run through broken streets, glass, or uneven broken terrain. That is basic self-awareness and what was once fundemental survival instinct. Only a child would dress in shorts during the winter, and they do. For God sakes, what if something you cant think of happens...I shake my head every time I see an adult child in flip-flops.

I don't care what anyone says, if you 30 and older and you have just one of the following you should be wearing pleated pants unless you are exercising everyday. Multiple keys, a wallet, a phone. I really don't want to see anyone wearing flat front pants and their thighs begging to be rescued with pocket bulges.

Disagree about the worn out clothes. I don't think it makes a person look old. It makes the clothes look old and rundown, but people of all ages can wear worn out clothing. Wearing comfortable shoes. Just going by my experiences over the years and what I have seen, wearing loafers and shoes of that nature is what makes a person look old. It's the same with the sports jacket. I never see a younger person wearing one unless they're going somewhere special. That's an older person item to wear.

Pleats are definitely dated and I do not see them making a return. You’ll see a couple people wear them but it won’t be mainstream like it was.

Men, just say no to pleats. Outdated tech. Yes, they did have a place in there day. That was before there were ten different cuts to choose from.

Practically all men's fashion points are "outdated tech." Buttons and zippers are outdated tech...Velcro. Shoelaces are outdated tech: Velcro. Ties, suit and sports jackets...all are outdated tech. So, what?

I am old I like pleats. What I don’t like is skin tight trousers, high water cuffs, baggy cuffs. Trouser cuffs should hit the top of the shoe. I’m 77 years old I wear cloths that I like. If it doesn’t please you that is just to bad. I’m not dressing for you. I dress so I am comfortable, for the occasion. I’m bald on top. I shave my head every day. I quit going to a barber. He would charge me full price for only half a head of hair. I may dress like a bum today. It’s Saturday, I’m staying home not trying to impress anyone. On Monday I may wear a suit button down collar shirt, and pocket watch in vest with chain. Not to impress you, but I feel good dressed this way and the watch is just a watch my grandfather would wear. Yes you wear a pocket watch, it isn’t stuffed in your trouser pocket with chain dangling out. Have a nice day. Remember Every day is a holiday Every meal is a banquet Every formation is a parade
