I was hoping to hear , Westchester, Schiller Park, Darien, Lincolnwood, Rosemont, Morton Grove, Elmhurst, Park Ridge, or Bolingbrook. All within 35 miles of Chicago. Your list , I would only choose Berkeley!

The dirt rises up near the rest when there is not anything else to buy. Most of these towns are terrible, but you get what you don't pay for. For example Indiana after covid now cost about the same as good Chicago suburbs.

Thanks for your comment! It's great to hear you love the suburbs we mentioned. There can be many reasons why people decide to leave, even from nice areas. It might be due to personal reasons like job relocation, seeking a change in lifestyle, or even downsizing. Each person's situation is unique, but it's important to remember that these suburbs continue to offer great value and safety for those who choose to call them home. If you have any specific questions about these areas or others, feel free to ask!
There are 7-8 months per year with absolutely no snow. You could have shown those pictures instead. The Midwest and East Coast is not constantly covered in snow.

You should qualify most of these videos as "in the west" suburbs. Your focus is obviously west and southwest with few exceptions.

All you need is a 5 minute car ride to go from "okay" to "bad". I mean honestly, why does Robbins even exist? It's so small lol, they should just incorporate it with other nearby places.

Schaumburg hoffman estates ! Becoming more expensive

Thanks for your comment! Yes, it's true that Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates have become more expensive in recent years, but they still offer great value compared to other suburbs in the area. What about Berwyn? Affordable, great access to the city, huge stock of wonderful bungalow homes, , most areas safe.

Absolutely! Berwyn really does stand out as an appealing option. For those considering it, it's noteworthy that Berwyn's overall crime rate is about 9 per 1,000 residents, placing it near the average for all cities and towns across America. This makes it a relatively safe choice, combined with its affordability and the beautiful bungalow homes that characterize the area. Thanks again for highlighting Berwyn-it's valuable for potential movers to have this kind of detailed insight!

Great video, too bad I can't even afford the "most affordable"..they're still expensive in my book. It would be best to make more specific videos like "Top 10 Most Affordable West/South Suburbs"..because talking about Chicago suburbs in general is vague and too broad. It will inherently produce a list missing many villages, towns & municipalities.

Hometown is more affordable when it comes to buying, but has crazy property taxes, so theoretically it's affordable, practically it's not
@ralphieandryan
Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment! You're right - Hometown is a great option for those looking to buy a home, but the property taxes can be a bit high. That's why it's important to do your research and consider all the factors when choosing a suburb to live in, including cost of living, taxes, and amenities. Thanks for bringing this to our attention!
@GreenLine4444

Money you must pay is money you must pay. So it doesn't matter if you live in a part of the country where your house costs $350,000 but your property taxes are only $4000 per year, or if you live in an area where your house only costs $175,000 but your property taxes are $6000 per year. Either way you must pay all the money you must pay. Sometimes people focus too much on the property taxes. Yes, Illinois has a little bit higher property tax, but the overall price of the house is usually lower. So you're not always saving by going to a part of the country where the property taxes are somewhat lower because the price of the house is generally way higher. So if you look at it in that sense, Illinois isn't that much higher, if at all. Not to mention Illinois doesn't have water shortage issues or droughts like many states have; the state sits on freshwater Lake Michigan, which is attached to the five freshwater Great Lakes.
@fungamesandstories

@@GreenLine4444 hometown is an exeption, everything around it is crazy expensive with very high taxes. If you want a house cheaper with lower taxes ( maybe), that means you go to areas that are not so good. You really can't compare illinois with the states around it, which also have acces to lake michigan
@GreenLine4444
Жыл бұрын
@@fungamesandstories Many places have reasonable home prices in Illinois, and of course there are many very expensive homes in Illinois as well. But my point is some people focus only on property taxes, and if they go to a location in the country that has a little lower property tax, but the home costs way more, they didn't really save. Not to mention the Chicago area has highly ranked universities, museums, zoos, planetarium, aquarium, and other cultural institutions, transportation (subways and El lines, a separate Metra network, highway network, Amtrak trains to all parts of the continental US, major airports with a plethora of nonstop global flights, entertainment, film making, TV making, music making, luxury restaurants and shopping, beaches, global port facilities for shipping and receiving international cargo, globally ranked architecture, massive parks, a federally designated National Park (Pullman), home to numerous global and regional headquarters, and later on, a Presidential Library and Museum, and a huge casino, all set among a culturally diverse population. Most cities offer nowhere near all these amenities - nowhere near. So people should focus a little less on property taxes in Illinois since the home prices in Illinois are reasonably well, especially considering all the aforementioned amenities. People tend to forget Texas and New Jersey (among some others) have some high property taxes. And yeah, I didn't mean comparing Illinois to other states on the Great Lakes pertaining to freshwater, I was talking about Chicago and Illinois not experiencing water shortages and droughts whatsoever like many other places around the country typically experience.
@fungamesandstories

@@GreenLine4444 well, i can't even compare southern illinois with northen illinois, where Hometown is. All these are Chicago's suburbs. You know it also depends to find work, and work is easier to find around big cities. I understand what you're saying, but i rather pay for my own house in equity than taxes, which you don't really get too much back, maybe schools?! 🤔. And assuming that everybody is paying mortgages, how is it fair to pay like another mortgage just for taxes? It makes no sense. I'm going to say it again, there is no affordable house price with high taxes, unless you sacrifice school district or/and safety, so your theory is not right. Why would i compare illinois with texas or new jersey, when I never lived there?
I wouldn’t mind in Some of these suburbs even if you paid me. Northwest suburbs have a some areas that are affordable and safe.
