Wow, "Flashback" I had a 1970 BSA 441 VICTOR SPECIAL that if I could get it started sounded wicked. Also a 73 Ducati 350 scrambler. Thank heaven for the compression release.

These mostly all sound like a swarm of bee's or snowmobiles

Honestly I think it was pretty average sounded
What about the Suzuki gsx 1100 or Kawasaki z1000r,now they do sound brutal. And bloody gorgeous looking too.
To me the best sounding bikes were the early KAWASAKI Estrellas with stock pipes and the YAMAHA SR400/500s with modified pipes. Then the ancient Englsih and American machines.
I always did love the sound of my '81 Honda CB750. But my V65 Magna was a hell of a lot faster!

About 2000, I got a 84, 750 Honda. just for making two window screens.
Benelli 900 Sei with 6 in 6 exhaust. After this there is nothing for a very long time. And where is a Guzzi with Lafranconi Pipes?
Honda blackbird with h.a.n.i exhaust. Ooow yeeeah

no triumph trident, bsa lightning laverda or ducati gt 750?
The ad image for this showed what looked like a Honda CB750 F2, which is why I came, but (unless I missed it) it was not here.

Laverda 3CL, better still a Jota
How about the bikes that *really* sounded good? CBR 250RR MC22, Kawasaki ZXR250/ZX2R, CBX 1000...
This List says to me that You've never heared a Benelli Sei 900 or a Laverda 750 SF.

Looks like Honda CB 750 sohc.
Instead of including Honda's wonderful 4-stroke V4, you put in a whiny two-stroke racing V4. That sounds like butt. You also forgot the classic British twin.

Indeed. And no 6 cyl Honda, Kawa or Bennelli? And no Laverda Jota ? No RC149? (5cyl). No Moto Guzzi V8? But leaving out the RC30 is unforgivable.

You obviously never heard honda cbx1000.........
I don't race the engine on my motorcycle, especially when it's cold. That seems like a mean thing to do.
*Yawn.. Try a Benelli 900 sei, or cb1100 inline six. The 85 V-max has an amazing sound too. Or even the triumph rocket III. I used to have a 1975 Z1-B with a 4-1 and it sounded much better than this example. An old suzuki gs850 with the exhaust cut off at the rear mounts will smash anything on this list as well.

Surprised with the nod for the Harley Evolution engine, in my opinion nothing Harley ever built sounds as sweet as the shovelhead.

honda cb 750
Obviously you have never rode an ARIEL Square Four 0 to 54 mph is less then 100 ft. in 1st gear especially from 53-59. A sound and a ride like no other. Classic in every sense. You have my sympathy. And all you others, But then you make up your own mind.
You can never touch the sound of Harley, and the next best is the Brits. Both far away and above.

For pure sound I'd have to agree with you, but in terms of reliability, Honda blew both out of the water, especially in the 70's and 80's

no matter whatever the finesse italian bikes represent, they sound crappy as hell
Are you kidding me, NOTHING compares to a late 70's big Ducati twin with Contis, whether it be... idling, going up through the gears, cruising along at low or high speeds or engine breaking.... NOTHING....What you gave us was bikes that sounded like amplified sewing machines (Harley excepted) You offered Champagne and gave us plonk......no thanks

Absolute failure of a list. 4 cylinders in the top 10?? 1 if lucky as they may as well be electric from a sound perspective, and no I'm not a Harley fan.
