I’m glad you are finding some time to make content again. When my kids were young, I was working a lot and never had time. As they got older, their sporting events kept us busy. Now they have families and I’m retired, so I have the time to play in my shop. Bur, never enough time to clean up after myself.

Yup feel like I have something going on every weekend and still trying to keep the house in 1 piece. I've been working around that by getting an hr or two in the shop per week late at night when everyone's asleep.

Nice project for a rainy day that could be adjusted for any make of lathe. I have that same horizontal saw that I picked up cheap but the legs are toast. That rolling cabinet and downfeed cylinder are great ideas. I know I watched your video on the downfeed but had forgotten all about it until the shop tour. Thanks for the new video and the reminder!

Yeah the legs were bent on mine when it was given to me. The cart is a cheap harbor freight one. Works well, but you need to be careful as it's not particular wide so can be a bit top heavy.

Welcome back! I enjoy machining content much more than HVAC work.

I've been struggling with trying to organize my machining acquisitions and I like how you're doing it. Also, in the process I found my shop was severely lacking in lighting so I took care of that, now to get the real organization done

Yeah I have 2 8' fixtures. one a new LED and the other an older T-5. I'm considering converting over to those LED pancake lights that mount flush. I have 8 on the other half of the cellar and they are plenty bright and nice and flush to the ceiling

I, of course, would have done it slightly different(🙂). I would make the following changes. Consider milling a 45 degree cut to the top right hand corner that might interfere with rotating chuck jaws when turning large diameter projects. Second, possibly mounting the dial indicator as low as possible, if there is any chance of interfering with the rotating chuck. But, I would definitely start with your design. BTW, It is great to see you back in your shop making swarf and chips, I do enjoy the HVAC videos, but I really like the Machining vids. KOKO!

Only reason the mount isn't lower is because on the southbends there is a small flad spot machined into the carriage that is specifically for the stops to touch. The rest of the carriage is rounded off.

28:20 some clamps that serve this function are relieved all the way back but leave the last 1/4" or so as an end fulcrum ..... screw in the middle and clamp on the other end. But I'm sure this works fine too

great to see some machining content. Is that hobber kit still available? I think I looked it up a while back and it wasn't

Great project and thanks for the plans. I have a Blomqvist BSN 1000 which is a SB9A with a 40" bed. I will convert the drawings to metric so we can use your design here in Scandinavia if it is OK with you?
