I've been thinking of getting one of these and making my friends get one, we do a lot of couch gaming, and with one of us eyeing the Steam Deck we're foreseeing that deck going around whenever we do a get together to play (We'll plug it to a TV of course) and play things like overcooked and Towerfall Ascension, and these tiny, portable controllers sure will be ideal to carry around.

My Steamlink reads mine as an Xbox 360 controller! Still works flawlessly. Wonderful controller!

Picked up the wired + bluetooth version of this controller based on the retro look that reminded me of og snes. After almost one year of (ab)use my main issue is slight joystick drift on the left thumbstick (wish they used hall sensor but that would've bumped up the price). Other than that it's fine and as you said in your review worked great for side scrolling / platforming games.

It's surprising how well the ergonomic work. It's a great modern twist on the classic SNES controller design. It has this sloped construction which makes sit very nicely in the hand, you can see that someone has put some effort into thinking about it. The colours are cool too you get both a playstation look super Nintendo look and super Famicom and Gameboy look with cool red purple buttons. It's expensive yes but your paying for quality and that's exactly what your getting.

$45 really isn't that bad for a Bluetooth controller, plus you can always get the wired one for $15 less at $30 total for the exact same feel, it's especially worth it when you compare it to 1st party console controllers which are always at least priced as high or higher than an actual game, for example the Switch Pro Controller is $70, but what's weird is that a set of Joy Cons are $80, and yet you can also buy a single individual Joy Con for $50, so really when you take all of that into consideration, the $30-$45 depending on whether you get wired or Bluetooth is simply one hell of a steal and definitely worth it.

It's a great controller. I use it on my iPad and fire stick daily!

i would still recommend getting the 8bitdo pro 2 instead of an xbox or playstation controller if you want something with grips

Just broke my NES30 pro and ordered one of these in the G classic color...there's only 4 colors .... purple Green the grey and the G classic.... its pretty comfortable because i have small hands the thumbsticks have more space compared to the previous model its great and a must have

Looks good. Would have been great if you've mentioned about the ability to replace the built in lithium battery after a couple years.

@@nohavermillion it’s great. Nice to have a full size dpad, and it’s really solid. I play a lot of street fighter collection with it - and some Persona 4 Arena. Ironically the only problem I had was playing a platformer (Castlevania CotM). Occasionally It’s hard to change direction while crouching for some reason. But overall it’s a must buy imo

@@alchemistrpm82 thx for the info! I wonder what that problem would mean, sounds like it's getting "stuck" in lower position and doesn't go easily into diagonals (which would complicate dragon punch motions). Probably gonna buy it nonetheless though

Ps1 colorway actually. They don't sell the snes colorway anymore I think. I have the pro 2 with the ps1 colorway and my dad even said it looks loek a ps1 controller. Debating on getting the sn30 pro in the gb classic colorway for dedicated retro 2d games.

I own both the sn30 pro and the pro 2 and the pro 2 is far better for fps games but the sn30 pro just feels right for retro games D pad centric of course even though you have the analog sticks.. Also you went with the super famicon color way. The snes controller had purple but tone with x and y being concave (2 different shades of purple) the one I got has red(maroon) buttons I felt the concave buttons would have been uncomfortable tbh with my hands being bigger from the almost 30 year difference in my age from when I played my original snes back in the day.. Awesome video cheers

how are the shoulder buttons? especially compared to the original snes controller? the upper ones look kinda small or 'skinny' dosn't that effect gameplay? especially when you need them a lot for different things, like lets say super metroid or contra 3 (for a quick press and release)

The start button doesn’t work with any android retroarch emulator. Every other button works perfectly but the start button. Any suggestions??

I just discovered this SN30 pro has giro/motion controls because I was playing Cruis n’ blast on switch, and noticed it was steering when I tilted it. But I don’t want it to be doing it for that game. Is there a way to deactivate motion controls? Surely there must be a way?

@Josuh I got the lite 2 but honestly not a fan of the company. The battery indicator does not work correctly, the ultimate software doesn't support it, and the device has no dust or water protection. But it does its job and is the best I can get on the market

Retroarch is a popular game emulator but I have no idea if that works on iPad. I use it on my Mac. There are retroarch KZread tutorials that show how to get it going. But it’s a bit messy. It requires 4 parts: Retroarch app BIOS (emulates a game system’s microchips) Core files (emulates a game system’s software) ROM files (the games themselves) For example, to emulate the NEO GEO system, the easy part: 1) you install Retroarch 2) retroarch shows you a list of game system cores, so you pick NEO GEO and install it. The tricky part, you have go to hunting for: 1) the Neo Geo core. 2) game ROMs. It is the same thing for any game system you select. That’s where video tutorials help you.

To much lag as well with with this controller, don't use this on Nintendo Switch unless you get a wired version or 2.4 ghz Bluetooth version with dongle. Some reason it works way better for emulation on Android no problems wireless.

That's the whole reason I got the wired version, I don't usually play too far away from my RetroPie console as is, and I've already tested one before and the length of the cord is more than enough, plus I save $15 so it's perfect, the Bluetooth one is perfect for people who have they consoles or emulators on a ledge next to their TV like how mine is in my living room, obviously if I tried to use it there it wouldn't go so well, which is why it's good that they sell a Bluetooth version too.

This or the Pro 2?

For $5 more bucks you can get the 8BitDo Pro 2 with Turbo...Just Saying. And if you like this style instead of my suggestion check out Retro-Bit Legacy 16... pretty nice.

Coming from a 2DSXL, the Dpad is underwhelming and shit. I wouldn't recommend it outside of turn-based games, which is what I bought it for anyways Too rubbery, center can be pushed down a bit, and holding Left/Right and going to press up/down has no click--personally for me that's VERY bad for fighting games The 2DSXL dpad is the best possible Dpad and it's unfortunate nobody else can or will take inspiration from it The 8BitDo Dpad is not something you can roll your thumb around and get 4 separate clicks out of. And the sound it makes when you do roll your thumb around doesn't sound good. It sounds like the rubber pad is being flipped inside out and makes that flappy, pop-back-into-place/shape sound When it comes to sliding thumb left or right, there will be unwanted inputs for Up/Down This Dpad is stiff. Mushy, but still has a very noticeable click to it. Pressing it feels slow and makes me feel fatigue. The thought of how it felt is making my thumb feel fatigue af right now. My thumb had already gotten so tired from pressing it within the first 2 minutes. I adjusted and my thumb doesn't rly get tired anymore The ABXY are kinda loud, but IDRC. They're flat and are the best feeling buttons I've everpressed. They're also very spaced apart compared to erry other controller I have and I LOVE that. The shoulder buttons are skinny, but not an issue at all. Feels rly good to press them The sticks are very soft. So soft, that they're very slippery. And the position of the left stick makes it difficult to move without my left thumb needing a break, but that's just me. I've always used normal controllers with a Stick symmetrical to the buttons bcuz common sense ergonomics. But I never bought the controller for stick uses I exclusively focus on JRPGs with it. I recently completed Octopath Traveler (all 88 achievements) with this controller and I couldn't have asked for a better con to play it with. I plan on playing Etrian, SMT, Persona 5 and 3 Reload, Bravely Default 2, Octopath 2, FF Pixel Remasters, etc with this. Maybe even Sanic Superstars and Origins (If that games goes on a big enough sale. I wouldn't pay more than $10 for it), but again, Dpad isn't that good for platforming at all

I got the wired version, totally different experience. It's actually broken out of the box, left joystick sticks and holds in the direction you choose about 30% of the time. Thankfully I'm just playing SNES for now, but the buttons feel kind of "sticky" too, at least compared to xbox and switch pro controllers. I'll be returning it and getting a different unfortunately.

I've got 2 of these controllers. I happened to get the real snes color ones. I think nintendo threatened them and they made them change the color scheme. There is plenty more features you don't talk about. They do almost everything a switch controller does. They have HD rumble. And have a gyroscope. These controllers are the best. They even made a regular snes style controller. Nothing special just look identical to a snes controller. I have 1 black and one in the USA variant of the snes controller color. I buy alot of their controllers. I hate how the battery is locked in and hardly replaceable. The pro variant has a open back to just replace the battery. Sony is still stuck on the locked in battery ordeal. I love how Microsoft uses double AA. Hate if you want but eventually you won't find a good working replaceable battery for all these controllers. They degrade as time goes. Rechargeable double aas ftw!

Bro, if you are only gonna use it for platfomers, buy the one without the thumbsticks. It's probably cheaper too.

Shame they don't have one without the analog sticks anymore. They're in the way.

That is definitely NOT a SNES colorway. It is PlayStation 1.
