Excellent review; thank you for making the time to go so thoroughly in-depth. I own a '21 Street Bob and had my Saddlemen Step-up "Gripper" before I ordered the bike last year. I've put almost 9K miles on the seat and absolutely love it! I plan to add a Road King Special later this year and came across your video while researching the Road Sofa. The RKS comes with the same stock seat as your RGS so I greatly appreciate your taking the measurements comparing the two. Finally got our for the first ride. Back Rest is a must. Seat is stiff but even after a one hour ride my butt was still happy. Hahaha

It'll stay stiff, even after many miles, but in my belief, that stiffness coupled with their gel technology, is what makes them so good. I'll definitely take your advice and spring for the backrest. Honestly, once we're at that level of outlay, who cares about another $100 (or whatever it is)? Worth it in the long run. I'll be sure to subscribe to your channel.

I bought the same for my 2018 CVO Street Glide but without heating (no need here in Spain), with driver back rest plus the back rest for the tourpack, all with orange stitching, and wherever I go people stop by to watch it! Most important is that the confort is great, though the first 1,000 miles it’s still hard. I am so pleased with Saddlemen that I have just bought the solo seat which comes in brown…will tell you about when I put some miles in it!

I had the first HD RGS 2023 before one month ago i loved HD and stock seat is nice but looking for something else more comfortable specially im 6 feet and overweight 130 kg will take this seat i hope it will be great. Thank you for sharing your experience with new seat

Great video! It’s the first one out of tons I watched that showed me what I wanted to see. The wiring under the seat itself. I’m considering removing the cover on my stock RG seat, adding the saddlemen gel and heaters to it. Thank you.

i am new to HD with a road glide. the first mod. i did was the saddlemen road sofa (it came with after market bars). my local dealership had the seat hanging on the wall, so i grabbed it. i had no idea how BIG that was until 3 months later when i test rode a stock road glide. i would never have gotten used to the stock seat and bars. horrible positioning, even for a short ride.

Agree. Guessing here but I think Harley knows everyone's Butt and usage is different so hard for them to have a one size fits all seat. They know most will just get one that works for them so they don't put anything decent on stock.

So, what is the long term review of the road sofa? good, bad. I'm looking for a seat now.

Do you need the H-D mount for driver backrest?

Those deflectors are essential for helping to prevent the roasting of the chestnuts. My limited, even with the extra cooling, sends up a lot of heat and those defectors are a bit of a barrier.

Hahaha! As you said, roasted chestnuts are only good at Christmas time. I have notice a big difference on hot days.

That seat looks fabulous on that bike. I have a 2019 Road King and I'm looking at the same seat with the heat as well. Not sure I'm going to ge the backrest. What do you think of the backrest now. Would you get it again today if you were getting the seat again? Thank you for the video, Joe

Backrest is great. Very firm. You do need to adjust it to find the position that works best for you.

Stock wheel and bags. Its a Road Glide special and the come factory like that now.

It seems the seat is thicker so I would assume you sit up higher (did you find that also). Does the narrow portion near the tank offset the height so you are still flat footed?

Yes. It does exactly that. I am 5' 7" and I can flat foot now. Love this seat.

I use wizards detailing spray. Seems to work well. I know a lot of classic car guys swear by it. Has a great smell too.

I wasn’t a fan of that color til I saw it in person at the dealership then I was like wow, that’s a cool color.

Yes, that happened to me as well. This happens with a lot of HD colors. They had a color last year called Snake Venom. Was both green an purple depending on the lighting. Wasn't my thing but very cool how it changes.

I saw a video of a cvo road glide in super dark blue. It looks black until it gets some sunlight on it, then you see the deep dark blue. Pretty cool. But as far as the 2022’s go I live the blue and black. I think it’s called Mako blue and vivid black. They nailed that color combo IMO

Did you gain any length getting you away from the gas tank compared to stock seat

This seat is narrower by the tank and it does let your legs down more. I can flat foot the bike better now.

Commenting in wondering is the seat comfortable? I have a 21 ultra and wife rides with me a lot but… the stock seat is comfort for us but I don’t like the seat position I’m up on gas tank I’m 6ft1. I tried the tall boy on demo and did not like it at all except for the position that’s about it

I love the seat but just know it’s a bit stiff. I happened to like that stiffness but I think some folks may not. Fits me well. The heat is amazing and highly recommend that feature

I'd like to know if that seat is extended reach or not. I could assume it's not because you didn't mention it but would be nice to know if it is or is not.

Roughly how tall are you? Im 5’7(30” inseam) and considering this seat w/backrest for my road glide st for my long distance rides, by already being on the shorter side i cant afford to lose anymore footing😂😅 does this seat add to the height or is it close to stock? Im currently rocking a lepera tailwhip and its great but i want that back rest for them extra long trips.

My wife used to ride with me but stopped. I am hopeful she will get back on someday so just wanted to enable that just in case. Solo seat is nice too. Also was thinking this seat might be better for resale if that ever happened.

Looks great, love the color. I tried to buy that color in a trike the salesman told 70,000. I told him he was smoking bat shit. No lie and them you know the rest lmaoooo!😅😂😅, Best of luck with the seat.

Problem with the back rest is the bracket that the pad spigot slides into is held by 2 lightweight rivets cheep and not so cheerful fell to pieces after a couple of trips should have been bolted witch is what I had to do

I also where a 30" inseam pants. This seat narrows at the front and lets your legs down better than the stock seat. I can flat foot easily.

It was around $1000. I had $700 in Gear Bucks at my dealer so wasn't a big cash expense for me. However, I still think this seat is worth it. I love the heat. Cold where I ride so really helps.
