What Paul said about English comedians not making it out of England resonates with me a lot. I just made an English friend, and he keeps putting a lot of cultural references in his speech. I am like, aren't you supposed to feel grateful for me conversing with you using English already? What makes you think that some figures/ stores in your hometown are universally known to the world? Isn't that arrogant to assume? But to be fair, he's a nice bloke.
