Mike when you dig, always put your tracks with you, and the blade in front of you, that will give you more pulling and digging power, and you won’t be tipping the machine so much.

I go in flat with the ground and let the bucket use the ground as leverage with the teeth stuck in the stump, no matter how you’re sat in the machine all the weight is on the wrist of the bucket, maybe try it and see if you get what I mean

I rented an excavator about the same size a month ago to remove 14 huge stumps. Each one took 20 to 30 min to get out, the were old growth fir with huge roots. Was a really fun day! Saved a huge amount of time, I have a kubota but its too small for this type of work. The rental was well worth the cost.

Rodney Ross Oh, I know you can dig out the stump, even drop a tree, with the BX. I didn’t say it couldn’t be done. I just don’t recall seeing it on KZread and the time spent doing it (ripping roots, moving backhoe, clearing dirt...) is just one part of what I dread. Mike (or Mellissa 😉) might have better techniques that viewers (at least me!) would enjoy seeing. I think 10 foot stump drop with a BX would require he pick up the BX/stump with the excavator first 🤣. Just moving that stump to his root/stump pile with a BX would probably be...instructive.

Mike, you run that like a Pro! I watch all of Chris' (letsdig18) and Andrew's (Andrew Camarata) videos. Today's new excavators are really a sophisticated machine, the older ones not so much. The ground really looks dry. Take care👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Looks like you’re doing a tour of the machine. But as a side note, since the “He Shed” is still in the early stages, don’t forget to either install an oil/ water separator to catch fluids or set a grade to get the water to leave the garage come winter season. Nice work with the machine!

Rented a Bobcat mini excavator for a week during my Covid lockdown and unbelievable how much work you get done. That’s with me never using one before. They are easy to run once you get used to it. Plan to rent again next spring for more projects.

Wow, jealous of that kind of power. It would take me at least an hour to remove that stump with my l2501 and bh 77 but that’s with an inexperienced operator lol. Mighty dry there, now that’s the way to drop a tree! Thanks for the entertainment.
