$850 IN GROUP BREAKS VS A $850 HOBBY BOX (2020-21 Panini Select Basketball)
Ойын-сауық
I am comparing $850 in group breaks with a $850 hobby box of 2020-21 Panini Select Basketball as part of our "Boxes Vs. Breaks" series. A big question in the hobby has always been whether its better to buy into group breaks or open hobby boxes. In these videos, I will be buying a hobby box of a product and spending the same amount on group breaks (of the same product). At the end of the video, you guys get to vote for the winner (the group breaks or the hobby box) in the comments. If you like this series, and want to see more videos like this one, be sure to like the video, share, comment, and subscribe to the channel! If you have any recommendations as to how this series can be improved, comment them down below! What product should we do next?

what are breaks? it means you split a more expensive box with other people? how can you trust that they are even going to send you the cards that are yours?
Man both were pretty tough this time around but I perfer ripping to watching others rip for me. Altho obviously have bought into some breaks on stuff I didn't want to pay full price for so both have their place in this hobby!! Thanks for sharing!!

Yea I’d rather rip myself too but breaks definitely have their pros. Thanks for watching!
I’d do boxes all day part of the fun is opening the packs in my opinion it makes it more suspenseful 💯
Love these videos. I’m a fan of hoops boxes, feels like you’re always getting something decent.
wow.. 2nd episode of the box vs break.. present sir Ryan.. 🔥🔥🔥
Ripping cards is what I love most about the hobby. Strangely enough I dont watch alot of sports other than college football but I love to collect cards and keep up with the hobby. Always has been that way
Really like this series. Gotta do some more of these. Shows the risk in both ways of doing it.
This is definitely the best series! I think both are great because you can either hit big in the break or the personal.
My favorite is optic. It was one of the first products I ever opened up back in 2017 (mahomes rc year) I love the design and think it is cleaner than prizm and select. Love the content and keep it up🐐
I love watching your videos! It's my favorite way to relax after a stressful day

NBA Select Hobby box is my favorite - These videos are awesome man thank you!
This is a very cool series - "boxes" versus "breaks". Even though this box wasn't particularly great, I still feel like the box won this battle. Two Ants, a Haliburton, and an RPA that is a similar level of Rookie to the two autos in the breaks. I would like to see other sets in this series including Optic.

I think for products like optic, select, etc youre better off buying a box yourself, just you could hit multiple rookies from diff teams. For premium products like noir, NT, spectra, etc, i feel like breaks are the way to go. The breakers i work with do 10 spot/3 teams breaks so you have a much better chance, or they do 10 spot hit drafts where order is randomized to decide the pick order.

@@jayfron6012 I totally agree & the reason I got in the Hobby was 2 break
Nice info. I love NBA donruss optic, it's inserts are outstanding
Love this idea.i have been getting into a bunch of breaks here lately but haven't gotten my money back yet
I like this Break vs Rip style of content! Keep them coming !

Thanks! Excited to do more of these in the future!
There's so many to choose from. I would have to say 89 Fleer Baseball. When it 1st made its way to Nevada I bought 26 packs and pulled 17 Billy Ripken FF. I sold 1 to Smokey's BB card shop for $75 .I was the 1st person in the state to possess that card. The error was Billy Ripken FF bat knob had an obscenity on it. Fleer was taking them back and destroyed them. They released white outs, black ⚫ box, scribbled and Saw cuts. I sold 8 shortly after for $150 each and 2 for $250 each. Now I have 4 PSA 9 2 BCG 10 . Ever since then Billy Ripken follows me 2019 summer I opened up a box of Fairfield Football. And guess who popped up? Billy Ripken!
I enjoy breaks because of the bond of the people in the break, downside is if one of my favorite teams is locked or too expensive in pyt. I haven't did much on boxes. Only mega I did was 2021 Draft Picks Chronicles. It was nice to go to Walmart to see this on the shelf, I got lucky enough to get the last one. I rarely get the luck of finding megas in store. I mostly have done cellos and blasters myself and I like it. I don't get the rush like I do with breaks. I hope to get some more boxes to rip, but I know I might stay consistent with doing breaks. Thanks for the video Packman.
Outside of the product reviews, definitely my favorite video format of yours. Optics would be nice to see on here

Thanks for the sharing knowledge bro.. mostly i like PYT much more cheaper.. if have budget maybe i will try to have my own box break in future. For now my videos is mostly PYT and singles.. thanks bro .
Keep up the great work I like being able to watch unboxings, when I can’t get my hands on my own. It feels like I am unboxing it with you. But in terms of your question I like boxes more

Both are very fun ways to pull some serious cards. Personally I like to rip my own boxes but mix it up every once in a while and join a break or two.

Series is cool. Just got into breaks myself and i find it expensive for boxes... but this was a rough box of select you got.
Thanks for doing the comparison. I'd personally would of just bought a 850$ card and been done with it. I do see the draw of opening but seems very expensive

Good point. Or $850 worth of cards would make you thousands in about two years. Lamelo silver chrome one is only around 100 right now.
Great series. For me personally ill enter breaks for premium products i would not be able to afford a box of. The breakers i do biz with do 10 spot/3 teams each, or will do hit drafts for boxes with 10-20 cards(randomized order of who gets to pick first). I also like not having to buy diff size sleeves and top loaders, and if you hit they can submit to psa for you. I do like ripping low-mid tier product, like donruss, prizm(if i can find retail), optic, etc. It is a ton of fun and hitting big while ripping is unmatched excitement.
breaks are way more fun and cheaper then opening a personal box but on the personal boxes the value is definitely there. I like group breaks because you get only your favorites instead of getting a little bit of everything in personal boxes . so like heavy collecting favorites players I prefer over boxes with tons of mixed plays that I'm not a big fan of. Love your channel by the way big fan!!
These are fun...i like breaks for pc ...boxes for all the goodies...keep on cracking brother

I really like select, it looks so high end and centering is pretty dang good!!! The difference levels of the cards its pretty dope too.

@@pokemane8081 at the price they are going for you'd expect a better job of quality control. My guess is they are going to get worse since all they plan to do is mass produce since they are approaching their end.
This is my Fav series!!!
Loving the content as always pack, I do have a question I'm super curious about. Why do you steer away from pyt in breaks? Just curious your thought process as I tend to gravitate towards pyt (favorite format is 10 spots 1 pyt/2random) I'm sure it's all up to preference but interested to hear your take:)
:) was wondering when you were going to do another one of these
Love this series. Want to see it done with NFL Select pls
These videos are great! But really I think this one shows that buying individual slabbed cards is the way to go 😆

prizm draft picks - my first big pull was from this set and i just cant help myself to stop buying :D
Love this video. If at all possible at the end to put a total value of the cards for each. That would be a huge help.
SICK SERIES!

Packman I’m gonna need you to please start putting Issac Okoro in your good pile 😂 love the videos man keep it up
I think it also depends on what kind of break you get into as well. I've done PYT case breaks and gotten away with huge cards in one stream. But doing 1-3 box breaks I'm not sure if they're totally worth it if you get a bad roll and get a team that only pulls a couple base cards. However, it can never beat the feel and fun of ripping your own cards, so there's always that little tradeoff plus the risk of getting a bad roll.
Very unique idea for a series. Hopefully more to come in it.

Dude cool break!
Panini select is definitely my favorite. I love the look and my best pulls have come from select basketball.
Definitely love ripping the box it’s fun which my son enjoys with me
Keep the series going
I like Mosaic the stained glass cards are sick
I've had success in both formats. Depends on the day how I am feeling.
I Love the Spectra cards. They are Awesome!!!
Had a thought for a series kind of similar to this - buy two boxes, let's say national treasures. You're planning to keep one for personal and host a group back on packman breaks with the other. Once the group break is filled, the break group picks (majority rules) which box they'll have as the group break and which one you have to open for personal. Adds an extra gambling component to it and then fun to see if packman or the group won the break
I enjoy ripping chronicles for the rookies!
Love these breaks.

Cool video. I think the teams you end up with in the breaks will determine how good your cards will be. If you picked only min, Cha, or sac in the breaks, you'd have less cards but probably walk away with better value than the box... Just my opinion. If not for Hali and 2 antmans in the box, this wouldn't even be close.
That teal Collin Sexton is a great PC hit!!
There's a certain rush or high when opening a hobby box. I have bought 3 and did great on 2 of them.
Cool series!

Do you think those breakers under penny sleeved? Like leaving your pattys just chillen?
I'd like this select, I got nice hits from it. And if it is even base it looks like insert 😂
Spectra, pulled some nice hits and cards are always clean!
Breaks won this time I would rather have a box but usually just buy and sell singles. Love the content as always 💪💪
I’d say Prizm & select tough choices
