I hope Chris Hillman gets lifetime achievement recognition real soon. He deserves it. His resume is impressive.
Loved Chris Hillman's bass work with the Byrds!
Incredible album. I wore the grooves off the vinyl. Thanks so much for featuring and sharing your talents on such great music.😊👍
Souther Hillman & Furay. McGuinn Clark & Hillman ..........anything with Chris Hillman involved is always a cut above. I like your choice today, a lot. My kind of music!

This is musical history Leland.
Dear Lee, you look and sound just as great as on your old laptop computer.
And Bernie Leadon was also a member of The Flying Burrito Brothers prior to the Eagles. Had to dig out my compilation FBBs album which has fantastic history blurb + an explanation of every song. Great to hear Chris Hillman today. Thank you
Always have had a soft spot for the Byrds and the Burito Bros, so anything with Chris Hillman is going to rest easy on my ears. Revisits will always be welcome. Stay safe and stay well!

I bought Mr. Hillman's "Slippin' Away" album in LP form when it first came out and played it to bits. I swear you could hold it up to the light and see how worn through it was. Brilliant ensemble of players, great songs, and a lot of spirit. A great listen, highly recommended! Thank you for sharing, Mr. Sklar!
Good evening Leland and everybody. I saw the test. I enjoyed the piece

I imagine that Chris Hillman heard "Take Me In Your Lifeboat" from the Flatt & Scruggs recording made in 1951 and he may well have played it in his early bluegrass days. It is a great version that you play from the album, all right.
What can I said Slipping away Love this music it goes to my souls All about Chris Hillman, and Mcguinn
Thanks so much, Leland. Chris Hillman is one of my favorite musicians and singers. I have followed him and enjoyed his music ever since the Byrds, through all the other great groups he's been in, on up to today.
McGuinn Clark and Hillman were great. Loved “Don’t You Write Her Off.”

That's fine, but it's McGuinn's song. Hillman's song will be 'Sad boy' on that record. Or 'She's stopping traffic' is fun 🎢
Great Test!❤
Thanks Lee!!! Good night!!!
Take Me In Your Lifeboat is another old traditional bluegrass song that was written by a man named Frank Southern. Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs recorded the song and so did the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band on the third Will The Circle Be Unbroken album.
Got this album In a dollar bin. One of the best albums in my collection.

Thanks for doing Chris Hillman. Slipping Away was a great album. Chris very under-rated and its a crying shame
During college, I walked into the small town Wisconsin downtown record store near campus, saw a sign: "This is a Granddaddy of an album," and bought it. "Slipping' Away" was on regular rotation on my stereo for years after. Thanks for reminding me of the store, and your insights into that album.
Thanks Leland for sharing this legacy...
I saw The Turtles in Edmonton Alberta in about 1967. Four warm up bands and then The Turtles for the price of $2.50 per seat. Great show!
Really enjoyed this. Thanks. See you tomorra..
Great song. We miss this kind of tune and groove in these times.
Thank you Lee for turning me on to this great music. It eases me into the comfortable chair in my mind. I will dig into. Be happy, smile and enjoy your day.

I’m deeply in love with everything Chris Hillman did the man is amazing and love inspiring
Seems that humans have gotten SO VERY MUCH DIVERSE SOUNDS, STYLES & FEEL ..... from just 7 notes (plus Minor, Sharp, convoluted chords ) and it defines us in how we perceive our attraction to music !? Chris is in a Channel presentation playing six string with another musician - "SO YOU WANNA BE A ROCK & ROLL STAR" .... just literally a minute ago ..... seems Karma is favoring my favorites in music today - You Too, Lee - Just so many hours of you and these I speak of. GBjj
Love these tunes!

I can hear Vassar in some of that fiddling. I’m sure you know that Chris is still playing up and down the coast and every once in awhile (at least before Covid) at McCabe’s…believe with Herb. Thanks again for bringing us this fine music! Your breadth and depth is so considerable, nothing short of great! 🐐🐐🐐🐐
Some people are thrust into the role of a bassist and I think Chris Hillman is one of them but it’s obvious why he chose Lee to play Bass on his solo project. Today’s selection shows a deep love for vocal harmonies and Bluegrass Music!
👍👍 Sounds great! Particularly liked the sound of the first one. Also dig those shades, man! A little distracted today by the explosion in Ghana. Looks surprisingly similar to Tonga but the toll will be far greater.

Wonderful album which stands up to this day. Chris Hillman is a superb musician on so many levels and a true gent. Had the pleasure of interviewing him for radio last year when his book came out. Delightful conversation. Says a lot about Lee Sklar that a terrific bass player like Chris wanted him to play on his album.
LOVE hearing Cropper sounding totally amazing as always, but once again only playing lines that help the whole song get along... & quite a nice hillbilly turn from you, too, Leland!
Nice fellow. Great talent. Thank you, Lee.
Thank You, Lee! First time here after randomly watching and listening to “Her Town” video and heading here thereafter. Excellent selections. I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Chris Hillman at the Fret House in Covina, CA in the summer of 2004. He was more than gracious amidst my pestering questions, request for picture and autograph during set break. A fine gentleman and musician indeed. God bless you, Chris and all those in your life; past, present and future.
The mandolin is ripping!
Just a thought. Maybe with an artist where you're likely to get blocked, and if you don't plan on playing along, you could just tell the stories on your channel, and then provide a link to the song on the artist's KZread or somewhere where everyone can go and listen to it?

"Slippin' Away" is an excellent album. You can tell it was produced by Howard Albert and Ron Albert. It has their stamp all over it.
First song, immediately I was reminded of JT. It sounds like in the wheelhouse of a JT formula.
Slipping Away is such a cool jazzy song. I just went and found a couple of live bootlegs of Chris from 1976 in Boston to hear the live version and was surprised to see that Richard Marx was listed as being in his band in those days on guitar/vocals... turns out though that it wasn't the Richard Marx who got famous in the 80's, turns out there was another one before him! lol
