I am 86 and recently lost my husband of 68 years, I have been lost . I decided to try to learn to paint and have been watching you. I just love how you paint. I am learning so much and now have a reason to get up in the morning. I have so much to learn about paint products and how to make the paint flow off the brush and what liquid is but I am getting better and can smile again sometimes. Thank you Your really cute

I used to teach a local oil painting class & several women joined us who were recently widowed. They expressed the same feelings as what you said. There's something about painting that's soothing to a broken heart. Thank God I haven't experienced losing my husband but my heart goes out to you & I'm soooo glad you found a reason to go on. It takes more talent to NOT paint every leaf and make it look as he did. I have painted for a long time and trust me , painting the illusion of detail is far more difficult. Look up Donald Jurney....he is the Master of what I describe. And I have seen his work in person and always blown away by the realism of his work with minimal strokes.

Paul, you are comparing apples to oranges. I love Impressionism too but these are two totally different techniques.. Michael is going for photo realism and I’d say he nails it!

D Kue you can use feathers and strands of bark too to your own specifications.
