VIDEO #81 ATMOSVERSE NOTES - C. C. Catch, Tommy Anders, Debbie Gibson, John Stamos and Cher are all popular 80s musicians (although at the time of the video Stamos was arguably more famous for his acting roles than his music) - The Eighties Heroine "Angie," or Angelica, is named on-screen for the first time; per her World Anvil profile her full name is Angelica Morgan - The recent release of the movies Top Gun, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Stand by Me date the video to the summer of 1986 - Angelica has previously been established as a fan of Stephen King; she mentioned his work during her first appearance in Video #21 (Classroom) and had several of his books on her shelf in Video #25 (Try on Haul) - The "breathing meditation course" was shown in Video #53 (Ballet Class); the POV Character lost consciousness during the class and found themselves transported to El-Rah - "I found myself in the grand theater." A 19th-century theater was also one of the locations in another dream sequence during Video #67 (Ladies, Vampires, Theatre and More) - Angelica has been related to different time periods in the past; the sorceress Astarah saw her while sailing the Chrono Realms in Video #50 (Potions), and she appeared on a 2088 video display in Video #71 (CyberLimo Ride With Your Personal Android) - "Angelica worships Lamari." Angelica attempted to get the archaeologist Professor Lamari to supervise their project in Video #39 (80s Partying); the professor her and the POV Character to the meditation course - After they passed out during the meditation, Angelica took the POV Character to be checked out at the university medical center in Video #65 (School Medical Exam) - Per the World Anvil background information Mayhorn University was established in 1882 in what was the Greene's Castle after Lord Greene was stripped of his title. Anna told the POV Character about the university's foundation as they explored Mayhorn in Video #27 (Mysteries of the Book) - Per the World Anvil page, Pinecrest is the name of both the university and the town in which it is located; the university was established in 1886, as confirmed by it celebrating its centenary in Video #39 - Links between Pinecrest and Mayhorn have previously been shown in Video #21, in which Angelica's Pinecrest letter jacket displayed the heraldic seahorse symbol of the Greene family, and by the ghost of Lady Arabella Greene transferring from the Mayhorn cemetery in Video #38 (Victorian Ghost) to the Pinecrest cemetery in Video #39 - The crystal prisms that were given to the students at the meditation course were Capacidian Stones; as revealed in Video #35 (Magic Lessons) they are a vessel used for storing and transforming magical energy - "Straight out of a secret society." According to Anna in Video #40 (Fortune Teller in the Train) the Vita Somnium Breve - or Order of the Sleepless - used to gather at the Greene estate - Anton is Angelica's twin brother, who first appeared in Video #21

It's amazing to see how Anastasia can play three different roles without them really seeming to be the same person in a blatant "copy and paste", you can see the differences between Angie and Aggie (Angelica and Agatha) in the way they sit, and the The stylist's focused face, with that eighties makeup, gives her a unique vibe.

I adore your 80s videos, the attention to details is just amazing. I was born in 1974, so I was a child in those early 80s, but this takes me back. Big hair, stonewashed jeans, the pastel coloured curlers and even the Marimekko wallpaper, which I believe, was from the 50s or 60s, but we sure did see this pattern a lot back in the 1980s. 😊

These things give me such stress (going to the hairdresser or socializing in any way, really) that even though many scenes come in very fantastic packaging - as in being from whole other eras or being straight up magical - they really help me with any anxiety I might have.

Definitely believe a previous decade can bleed into the next especially if the people in your life were so greatly influenced by it and didn’t embrace too much of the present decade. Basically not buying too many new clothing items: believable. Listening to that music: believable. Still using the lingo, etc etc. I’m a testament to this with my 90’s fashion I still wear today.

3:25 Based on the mentioned movies, this scene occurs sometime after August 22, 1986. (thanks, @boeing-777-x, I meant 1986, but typed 1988) Determining the exact time can be challenging because movies in the 80s remained in theaters for extended periods. It was not unusual for films to be screened for several years. For instance, "Star Wars," released in 1977, was still being shown in theaters into the 80s. VHS started appearing, but video rentals wouldn't take off until 1989. In 1987, I remembered 7/11 and The Wherehouse offered VHS movie rentals, but they were costly, requiring a $75 deposit ($200 inflation-adjusted) and a rental fee of $3 ($8 inflation-adjusted). In 1988 or 89, most movie rental places eliminated the deposit requirement. That's when VHS renting took off. A brief bit of 80s history from memory. 🙂
