hi mine shows the error code at 99% everytime even when i take out the bd drive or wifi card no matter what it show the 8992f14e error after 99%. Also tried with a new hdd formatted to ntsc then went to safe mode for system update but after saying checking please wait the console turns off. Please help!

hey did you put that cable in the way you got it out or did you copy him in the vid and do it back to front?

what tool do you use to open the ps3 i cant find a tool small enough that matches the screws

What happens if the black clip on the ribbon cable connector is broken. What can I do to fix it. Is there an alternative rout to securing the ribbon cable or somewhere I could get a new one

When you say disk drive what you mean ? the blueray or the Hdd disk ?

The same thing happened to me but follow another tutorial that is to "remove the disc and re-connect" when I took the disc started to update and put other 40gb then began a count 60s after that turned off the ps3 and got into recovery mode now no longer gives neither the disk nor the 40GB source disk 60gb. And when you turn off after a few minutes so do not turn off when I'm in recovery mode, tried to restore through the recovery mode appears more "can not access the storage system" please help!

Dude my disc drive doesn't read any disks so if I take off the logic board and put on a new disc drive and put the new disc drive in will that fix the error? Reply please much appreciated

do you know how to fix a ps3 with broken blu ray, and when you turn it on, only black screen shown on there. I can only access recovery mode but other recovery failed accept update firmware, however it always stopped at 75%.

Thanks but I think my problem's more serious, I fixed the ps3... but broke it a bit too I think, it was always over heating within about a minute or less everytime I turned it on it would switch itself straight off, it's working now but it keeps looping on this update. When I took that ribbon cable out of where you show in the video I broke the clip so it's held in with duct tape now, it's obviously not working =/ Anyone brake that aswell? don't really know what to do, it's working but I can't update it.

Hi. Place something squishy on the ribbon cable while it is taped. That way when you screw the Blu-ray disc drive down, it will press the ribbon cable into place.

Is it possible that the ps3 can only play in HD. Because for some reason my ps3 doesn't work when ever I put the regular cord in to see it on the TV. I never tried HD because my TV doesn't have the option to go into HD. Do you think the cord is just broke? I tried two different cords and neither worked.

lol the clip on my blueray drive and mother board are both broken,, im buying a new logic board for the blue ray, and probably going to play with the clip on the mohterboard to fix that

DrjamesyFeelGood Yea... I'm using Cobra ODE and it turns out that I shouldn't have updated it to the latest OFW. The Cobra ODE I'm using now is disabled... Now I can't play anymore.

Buy a new one or u might get one with a new disk drive. Just search ps3 disk drive ribbon cable.

I've had the same problem got to 55% and the SOD decided to stop installing, I've tried everything. I'm not to worried if i have to buy a new one. P.S (I wanted to know if anyone has any clue or idea on how to get my 'SAVEDATA' from the Ps3 to my Laptop because with the install loop i cannot transfer any saved data) WILL BE A BIG HELP IF ANYONE KNOWS ANYTHING. ******RESOLVIDO: Estava com o mesmo problema com meu PS3 FAT. Meu videogame estava com o leitor de disco travado e sem funcionar (Não puxava e não lia o disco) quando fui tentar atualizar o sistema para versão 4.90. Resultado: Loop Infinito! Quando a atualização chegava em 98% aparecia o erro (8002F14E). Desligava e ligava novamente o videogame e já iniciava na tela de atualização, dando o mesmo erro em 98%. SOLUÇÃO: 1- Para destravar o leitor, desmontei e montei o drive do disco umas 50 vezes até conseguir, assistindo os seguintes tutoriais: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pmSqm6ZugbKWgLA.html e kzread.info/dash/bejne/c6GIvMuAm8XJkrg.html Após várias tentativas, montando e desmontando o drive do disco por umas 50 vezes, consegui destravá-lo ocasião em que ele já puxava e ejetava o disco normalmente. Achando que tinha resolvido, tentei novamente atualizar o sistema do videogame e continuava com o mesmo problema: Erro (8002F14E) 2- Para conseguir atualizar o videogame, mais uma vez abri o videogame e removi o drive do disco. Retirei TODOS os cabos flat do leitor, apliquei um limpa contato em seus conectores e esfreguei suavemente com uma escova de dentes macia na entrada dos cabos e seus conectores. Para ajudar na fixação, coloquei também um pequeno pedaço de fita dupla face no cabo flat principal do leitor, bem no local onde ele é conectado na placa mãe do videogame. Montei novamente o drive do disco e fechei o videogame. PRONTO! Parou o erro (8002F14E), a atualização chegou em 100% e consegui atualizar o videogame para a versão 4.90.
