I've always wondered about 800 medley relay and adding 50s of every stroke to the Olympics. I guess it depends on how many events ends up being too many events 🤷‍♀️

I 100% want 50s and have for a long time. An 800 medley relay would also be very fun, yet time consuming

Biggest problem is medal inflation, ppl get too many medals lol

Relays are mainly for sprinters, adding the 800 medley relay would be a new opportunity for different swimmers to take part to relays. Good idea

There should be an 800 medley relay in LA! It’d be awesome to see this happen with all of the new upcoming USA Swimming Olympic Champions! Rowdy would also get very hyped for this event! It’d be so exiting to see at world class meets all over the world

yes they really should make one. i’ve also thought about this. i also think they should bring back 50s because they have them at worlds so why not the olympics

That would be absolutely amazing! The only thing though is that it’s really going to come down to the top four countries in the world who will be dominant. Makes it a lot harder for smaller countries to compete well. I think it would be better if it was an 800 mixed medley.

I also advocate for an 800 IM, but I also had aspirations of getting out of distance freestyle

Id love a 4×200 IM relay (each swimmer swims a 200 IM) over a 4×200 medley relay (each swimmer swims only 1 stroke)

Just start adding the event to minor competitions!!! Watch the popularity grow!

Oh it will very tuff for swimmers, i think that olympic races should be the same as in the past, mix medley relays, 800 hundred medley relays will be so strong for all swimmers

I have been toying with the idea of 800 IM relay. 4 swimmers cranks out 200 IM, i think it would be interesting, although likely another sphere the U.S. exclusively dominates with IM swimmer depth.

If this happens my coach probably gonna put me in it every time 😢

After 800 medley relay, we would add a mixed one for that and mixed 809 free relay at future competitions. Also not to mention 50s of stroke

why not 4x50 MR, normally the 100 and 200 will be the same person, 50m is another world

I've done an 800 relay in training. Only don't know how many could swim a 200 fly Your team would be limited

almost sure all/almost all of them could swim a 200 fly, and each team usually has atleast 200 fly

I mean at a high competitive level Like asking a sprinter to swim 1,500, they could do it, but at a level that would be competitive enough

I think spectators would think it is boring and it would become to predictable. Best freestyle wins.
