80-Year-Old ‘Sidewalk Karen’ Charged After Allegedly Hitting Kid on Bike

An 80-year-old California woman has been charged with assault after she was seen on video pushing a kid riding his bicycle on the sidewalk. “Get the hell off the sidewalk, now!” Susan Garcia tells the 12-year-old boy, while appearing to shove him backward. The encounter was captured on the boy’s GoPro camera in an upscale gated community in Santa Ana. Garcia then headed to the boy’s front door to speak to his mom, Whitney Gregory. After watching the video, she pressed charges against Garcia.

Because back in older times, being old was a sign that you were smart and wise, because getting to that age in life wasn't guaranteed the way it is in many developed countries today. Back then, if you had gray hair, it meant you knew how to deal with the world and were savvy enough to overcome tons of obstacles. But nowadays, the only thing you need to do to get to old age is be lucky enough to not get sick/hurt/killed and just barely smart enough to not whittle away your personal finances. Getting old in the modern age is nothing special, meaning tons of stupid people can do it. So being old doesn't mean much on its own anymore, and isn't as deserving of automatic respect or admiration.

If Susan Garcia really is that age and acts this unhinged, it sounds like she belongs in a group home or a psychiatric facility. If this is the kind of behavior we can expect when she acts this way towards a child, I hate to think of what other encounters other neighbors have had with her. But yeah. she committed straight up child abuse and intimidation towards a minor and she gets no jail time? I do hope the parents have taken legal action against her, plus if she's this much of a nuisance, depending on how the law woks in California, the neighbors could take further action to get her removed from the community.

DMV's jurisdiction applies to bikes. Another thing illegal is riding against traffic which that kid did. I actually got hit by a car backing out of a driveway.
