Crazy right? A fully built nitro methane hill climber looks faster than a stock swingarm and engine 450. Who would've thought? Would you like to compare power output when they're both stock? Modern 450s make ~63. CR500s made 55-56.

That CR500 is no joke! Years ago, a buddy I used to work with took a CR500 motor and swapped it into his 250R racing quad. He had to do a little welding for it to mount properly, but he got it to work mint. That quad was balls to the walls scary fast! I was following him in my car once while he rode it home from the trails, and after a red light turned green, i watched as he left 50 yard strips down the street ripping power ban through every gear. That monstrosity of a 4 wheeler was a loud, eye watering fast, force to be reckoned with, for sure. He smoked Banshees and ate quadzillas for breakfast. Definitely the craziest motorized vehicle I've ever had the pleasure to hold onto as it took me for a ride lol.

Its not cool to you, so its not cool to anyone else? Rear Admiral Funpants here probably thinks drifting wastes tires too. What possibly could be the problem? Excessive engine wear? you think youre going to float a valve? Its a bloody dirt bike and it's called preventitive maintenance. These are hillclimb bikes, most of an will never see more than 10 hours of run time a YEAR... No one is competing on a 120hr old piston. @@ericoverdorff8880I get what you're saying, but no. You will not find a single article or professional document that states hitting the rev limiter does anything but wear out wearable items ie rings and bearings, that are intended to be replaced.. Obviously holding it WOT bouncing off the limiter for anything other than a reminder to shift or to panic rev you could consider unnessessary wear. But that is it What I am saying is a 3 tenths of a second hold on the limiter isn't enough to heat up the rings to cause excessive wear, at normal running temperatures its just one more revolution, your engine does not care or know if it's underload. Your tune might... Most of these bikes idle rich as fuck and lean out underload at WOT. so they don't wash the rings at 12k. If you want to show off your 2000 dollar exhaust. So be it. Now. If the bikes were popping and spit when they were wraping them out in neutral, dumping fuel into the head washing the rings... Since I hear, nore see any of THAT. So yeah bro... There pretty Damn cool. Cept Nicole with the ponytail..... But the bike still sounded good and he didnt hurt it in the slightest coming off as a squid. With the cleanest gear and boots of the day.

This vid so smacks the freakin' crap out of that hill. The bikes are quite frankly phenomenal and so are the riders who have nads bigger than King Kong and don't worry the gal is all guts & skill too make no error they are as equally fantastic to watch as the boys. I rode both 4 stroke singles [500cc & 600cc] & my 1981 Suzuki RM 465X during the '80s over here in New Zealand. I was an apprentice automotive engineer on GM trucks & buses [Bedford & Isuzu] I swapped my 1979 Honda XR500 for the 1981 Suzuki RM 465X [mate's bike]. The RM465X was the most powerful motorcycle I have ever ridden - it was an ex-race bike and I think it may have been re-bored. The powerband was so vicious I fitted a Boyesen Reed to the inlet manifold to try and smoothen the powerband out and it worked perfectly. I wanted to do high speed max running over long gravel roads and so tall geared the bike [smaller less teeth on the rear sprocket and a bigger more teeth front sprocket sorry I don't remember the exact number of teeth for both sprockets. I ran the engine on Bel Ray 2 stoke oil that was very expensive at the time. I considered also using ethanol/methanol blend for fuel, however as I couldn't afford to pay for repairs if the engine blew/seized or the top of the piston melted due to excess heat from the incorrect fuel/oil ratio, so I just used pump petrol at the time. Still the bike performed excellently over long gravel road running at max speed. Unfortunately the bike never had a speedo so I couldn't measure speed. Plus I was light in weight [70kg] and 170cm/5ft 7in in height. I actually convinced a mate to pillion with me and the extra weight proved beneficial for traction. There were the odd corner/bends in the road and so I could power-slide the bike exiting and that was more fun than ever. I have ridden many powerful and fast motorcycles over 10 years during the '80s here in NZ. The story to my final bike; a 1985 Kawasaki GPZ 750 Ninja is worth reading. Here is a pic of my 1981 Suzuki RM 465X: www.flickr.com/photos/35707376@N00/50855348636/in/album-72157713681398176/

Gotta love all the comments saying the 2 strokes smashed the 4 strokes. Pay attention to the bikes, all of the CR's were heavily worked and purpose build hill climb bikes, more than half of the 450's had bolt on swingarm extensions and were stock bikes that get used for motocross and hillclimb so obveously they're not going to be better at hillclimbs than a bike that is purpose built and tuned for it.
