80. Glaze Layering Educational Before & After Amaco Iron Lustre, Smokey Merlot, Blue Rutile, Oatmeal
Комедия
This is a base to a bedside lamp.
I have used three layers of Iron Lustre. Then lines of Smokey Merlot and Blue Rutile.
Placing the oatmeal over the glazes when fired caused reactions and runs of amazing colours.

I am so glad you came up in my feed. I now know where I went wrong putting wiggles on my hand build flask! Wrong brush and not the right consistency glaze. I am now going to take my Amaco glaze with me tomorrow as I have to pots to glaze and you have given me great inspiration! I have done everything backwards. Got my wheel, glazes and under glaze for home use but haven’t got a kiln yet! Still enjoy my 2 days a week at pottery class though! Thanks again for your inspiration! 😊

Thankyou for your comment it is apppreciated.
Nice to see you again, it's been a little while. Great Video, great glaze combo, great technique.. Thanks!!!
your logic and knowledge gives you freedom. I am back in clay after 11 years or so. I've only used an old gas reduction kiln in my city's art museum adult classes with a number of house made glazes. Now, I only have access to electric cone 6 glazes. Thanks for sharing your experiments. beautiful work!
It is amazing how the colors blend together. Beautiful piece, as always.
This is absolutely fantastic! It’s almost like “controlling” the floating of three PC glazes 🤩🤩🤩)) I’m “over the moon” to had a chance to see it! Thank you for sharing!

Lol, no ways could I keep count of what was put where, stunning combo, I have watched all your test tiles videos as I'm going to start using( tired of underglazes) the amaco glazes, it'll be a guide for me as I use our local light coloured stoneware, so will be doing test tiles too!! , greetings fr South Africa
Love it!
Lois, your videos are an incredible resource! My husband and I have been binging them because we have about the same glaze catalog. I wish we could get the terracolor glazes here but so far no luck finding.

Where are you based.
Hi Lois Your work is amazing. gives me ideas. i have a pice I did with Iron Luster then a dip (I have a 5 gallon bucket of amaco oatmeal) in oatmeal. stunning colors. ill try adding the smokey merlot and blue rutile on my next pice then dip it. love your videos. im from the other side of the pond near detroit michigan.
Great demonstration! I loved every second of this process. #NewSubHere #Keepupthegreatwork
I’ve tried the same combo and the layers of Blue Rutile, Smokey Merlot and Oatmeal look beautiful, but my 3 layers of Iron Luster turn out brown instead of the olive green color. I’ve tried the same combo a couple of times with the same results. Any suggestions?
🎉Great results. Will this rainbow effect work on a heavily textured piece? Specifically corals 🪸🐠

I see no reason why not. Putting oatmeal thinly over iron lustre will turn it blue. So using the blue rutile and Smokey Merlot that forces more colour. The extreme movement cones with thick oatmeal. Worth a test !!

I use a skutt KMT1018 it had a pre set computer I follow the cone 6 fire. Ire does fire near to a cone 7. I have tried holds etc at the beginning but found the glazes are fine without. Though I have watched many videos who state I should held to 10 minutes to let the glaze settle.
