$80 Gaming Monitor LG 24MR400 | 24" IPS 100Hz

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

What's not to like about this $80 LG 24MR400 gaming monitor? It is 24", IPS, 100Hz, Freesync, FHD and has a VESA mount. The assembly is straight forward and it works as it should once you do some basic configuration.
Any kind of moiré effect you see in the video is because of my camera and not the monitor, the monitor looks crisp.
The let-down is only 1 HDMI port and a VGA port, instead of at least a DVI port. There is one thumbstick which also serves as power on button, so it's best to always leave the monitor on and in standby in case the button breaks?

For those that are interested in the monitor's audio capabilities:
I have tested the audio output on my headphones and it works. Interestingly, you can adjust the final volume 3 separate times: using the PC system volume, using the thumb stick left/right, and using the app that you use to play music/movies - but don't put all volume levels to max because it will get very loud and can/will damage your hearing! Also, don't expect a great audio quality from the monitor.

    Hey thanks for the question. I don't know how I could effectively capture the sound with my headphones. I tried recording it via the OBS using different sources for the "desktop" audio, but when I then edit the audio I don't hear a difference. HOWEVER, there is a day and night difference if you use the audio from the monitor or if you use audio from your motherboard (the motherboard sounds a lot better). To put it in perspective, the monitor audio sounds flat but it'll work if you need it as an emergency. But I would not use the monitor audio long term.

    Thank you for the question. It did not have any negative effect on me when using the monitor for a long period of time and at night. I did change the color a bit by lowering the green channel to 46 and blue channel to 45 - this was only done based on what I perceive as I don't have a monitor calibration tool. With all monitors you can adjust the contrast/brightness/gamma. You can also use a tool such as f.lux if you use the monitor at night, as it will adjust it's color/brightness based on your time.

    True, FreeSync is AdpativeSync (it's just a marketing ploy) which means you can also use it with nVidia GPUs (as I do). However, if you go into the nVidia control panel you will not see the G-Sync option. So it does not have G-Sync as G-Sync is nVidia proprietary and costs extra money if manufacturer want's to include it, which they won't do for a cheap monitor, at least not at this point in time. However, that is the information that I have, I might be wrong so feel free to correct me.

    Hey, thanks for the question. This monitor only has 1 HDMI port, so as it is you could only connect 1 device at a time (switching cables). You can however avoid that by getting an HDMI 2 in 1 switcher. Since the cheapest HDMI switch costs like $6-12 you could also look into monitors with 2 HDMI ports. Since you mentioned ps5, you will probably want a monitor with more than 120hz if you want 120fps, otherwise you will be limited to 60fps on the ps5. You can look at my last 2 videos for cheap 24 and 27 inch monitors with 144Hz or more, the cheapest one being $100 on Amazon US (ktc h24t09p).

    I am aware that the economy is different in every country and sadly countries, like Brazil, get hit harder due to low income. There is inflation, which makes everything even more expensive. And then there is also the import tax that some countries have extremely high. So for humans that want a different lifestyle a change must be made, in this case a higher paying job and/or relocation to another country. However, you could also find something that you like doing and is in demand, sell your products/services, and also make videos on KZread to show how something is done and promote your business.

  • @jackalldiytech

    @jackalldiytech

    There is a significant difference, spec wise: The ultragear has a VA panel, 144Hz over HDMI and 165Hz over DP, true 8bit, 2x HDMI 2.0, 1x DisplayPort 1.2 Price is $140-150? Which is almost double so it should be a better monitor. For similar specs to the ultragear and possibly even lower price you could look into KTC H24T09P. The geekbuying website usually has good deals on these monitors, but if you want to get even better deals you have to be subscribed to their newsletter.

    You're welcome. This is a great monitor for the price, maybe there'll be monitors for even less by the end of the year. The next step up would be a 24" monitor with 144Hz or more. And the "end game" would be a 27" monitor with 2560x1440px resolution at 144Hz or more. Which you can already buy new for less than $200 (I just released a TOP 5 video), but for that kind of a monitor you also need a good GPU if you want to play games at max resolution and 144+ fps.

    There are no speakers as mentioned in the video when I did the sound test, but you do have a 3.5mm audio output. So you can use headphones, or speakers if you have them, but in that case the onboard motherboard audio is probably higher quality. Most cheap monitors in the $80 range have the same outputs 1xHDMI, 1x D-SUB, 1x 3.5mm audio output and no speakers. Depending on where you live you can also get some great deals, I saw a dell monitor 24" - IPS - 165Hz - 1ms - with 2 HDMI and DP outputs for $110. But that one too had no speakers, so if speakers are a must on the cheapest of 24" monitor then you will have to look around or find a good deal.
