I learned a key aspect of my striking which was holding me back thanks to this post. I never really worried a ton about how much I let my body areas recover in between skirmishes. Since focusing on that, my trades have become faaaaar more solid

I'm not div 20 just yet but I'm getting there, div 18 atm and got my first couple wins over div 20s last night with Bobby Green of all people lmao. Dude will always have a special place in my heart, took me from being hard stuck div 12-13 to finally being able to push to the higher end divs. Gotta shoutout pryoxis as well, saw his video about using strikes at the right distance and it made playing a lot more enjoyable. I really love fighting sim style so learning that the strike distance matters actually reinforced that I could do well playing how I enjoy rather than having to be strict to meta constantly

Forcing myself to work on my weak areas helped a lot also, once I stopped playing to climb divs and started playing to get better it makes things way easier. Can just focus on making reads rather than stressing about losing div points

I was just thinking about blitz the league. Imagine a blitz the league rendition of a MMA game. Like everything is kinda exaggerated. Keep the gameplay similar to the ufc games but make characters slightly bigger or more shredded and let more damage happen. The M rated story for a mma game could go crazy too.

The fact knees and elbows are so frowned upon is a little wack in my opinion, I get spamming isn’t cool but even in real life if someone gets in too close for my straights and refuses to back up I’m gonna repeatedly knee and elbow them until they give me distance, so I don’t see why it’s even particularly unrealistic to utilize those as a way to create distance against a fighter who’s completely pressure fighting

That whole brute force shit is so stupid, if you actually practice your instinct the more of a skill it’ll become when you need to use it. I catch way better players when I throw a random overhand when I’m being beat, sometimes it wins me a game. I’ve went brute force in sparring against guys better then me and won. Over technical fighting/iq fighting can lose to a guy just trying to knock your lights out with 0 set up

But in real life throwing a big ass overhand while you’re already rocked is how you die against anyone who has enough experience to not start windmilling as soon as they smell blood

If your strategy works, keep doing it until they figure out the defense needed. I fought a bunch of LnP fighters and it works for them good, my job is to stop it.

Just throw them, fuck it. They’re pretty safe and hard to react to. Use them to set up head kick etc. anything with similar animations can be mixed up together keep that in mind
