If Shadow of the Colossus is in here, Nier should be also. Starts off as a regular "hero helps his village and tries to find a cure for his sister" adventure. You fight boss monsters and make some friends. Then you learn that fighting those boss monsters may have made things worse. Then you learn that you are preventing a ritual that would save the human race from extinction. You then kill the only person able to complete that ritual. You get a New Game+ and can now understand the language of the monsters, only to learn that most of them were innocent victims that the ritual was supposed to help and you have been offing mothers, fathers, and children the entire time.

@@molybdaen11 Coolness. I'm not sure what titles might qualify - after all, I'm hoping Jules and his neck vein, Jeremy, can tell me - but other factors include being able to save anywhere and side quests being either manageable or where the game makes it easy for you to remember which ones you've done and which are still in progress.

Games that you got stuck on because of unusual mechanics. For me, The Morrowind lay quest, “breath his waters glory and the way is made clear” I swam every inch of Vivec looking for hidden doors, I tried water breathing potions, I tried almost drowning, it never occurred to me that if I let my character drown to death the game would respawn me.

RDR2 has such and incredible story. From outlaw with a code to genuinely decent man. The journey is beautiful and the end is tragic. It’s borderline Shakespearean. I think Last of Us should make that list. Neir probably has a spot. Gears of War 5 has a tragic ending regardless of which decision you make. Hell the RDR saga as a whole. The main quest ending of the first game is absolutely heartbreaking despite there being a somewhat gratifying epilogue.

GTA the definitive edition makes Cyberpunk 2077 on its release look like a finished and polished game. Althogh a friend of mine claimed he played his game once and his manhood was dangling for all the world to see in the game. But the whole GT7 car purchasing for the real-life value did supposedly reduce the cost of some cars and you do earn more money per race. There are constant updates to the game with more tracks and more cars to be purchased. I started playing the game again and there is a big difference in the gameplay experience from day one when I originally purchased the game.

I hate hearing the closing music but I love the morale boost you give. It reminds me of a friend of mine who always said, "When one door closes, another opens!" (They worked at Boeing) But it makes me think, have you done a list of games that when they end really do leave you longing for more? Some of them do end up getting a follow-on, true, but there are those that don't. Not quite the list that was about teased sequels that never were, something where the developer left it there and the players were left feeling like they wanted more.

I don't even think there should be a time limit. If a publisher wants to implement micro-transactions then they should be required, by law, to disclose that before the game releases. Even if they are planning to wait to enable that feature. I also think they should be fined if they don't disclose that and offer full refunds for anyone who bought the game.

Had such large buyer’s remorse with Elden Ring it started me to analyze video games completely different. I hard nope anything with dodges and parries anymore. They’re all the same, regardless of how mashy the dps is. Silver lining is-I bought it on sale. Could not be more sick of homing attack vs dodges/parries difficulty. Been there done that. Want no more of it.

Like playing a virtual life like in fable 3 and regretting your choices or seeing that your real life could be way better if you followed the philosophy of the main character?

Just a friendly reminder that Wander was always the bad guy in SotC. He knew what he was doing the entire time. He knew Dormin was an ancient evil. He knew the Colossi were protecting the world. He knew the cost of it all. Hell, he probably stole Mono away from her homeland, to boot. He was always the bad guy of the story.

In situations where a game gets switched up post launch, like gran turismo, do y’all take down the before you buy video?

I played Duke Nukem Forever because I was bored and curious, but I rented it from redbox, so I didn't lose anymore than $3

8 Boss fights that failed to meet the difficulty curve. (i.e.. were pathetically easy versus the effort it took to reach them)

Farming simulator 22 gave me DLC buyers remorse realising that spending real life money on vehicles to use in game only meant that they were available to purchase with in game money for extremely high prices that take a long time to earn 🤦🏻‍♂️
