    How often do you water the sweet potato plant? I mean do you need to water it daily throughout the whole planting season?

  • @CarlzJafran

    @CarlzJafran

    2 жыл бұрын

    Once established, sweet potatoes will tolerate growing in dry soil. It's best to keep it evenly moist with 1 inch of water given once a week. Don't water your sweet potatoes during the final three to four weeks prior to harvest to prevent the mature tubers from splitting. But here in tropical climate we water our sweet potatoes twice a day in hot weather/summer and no need to water in raining season. Thanks for watching and have a great day...

    @@CarlzJafran Thank you for providing the yield information, components, and fertilizers used. Also, the pot size info. So many videos fail to do this. I personally like all the baseline data I can get to see which way I want to go. Much appreciated! Buying quality soil (like Promix here in the U.S.) is expensive as it is so I like to know what is the minimum size pot or grow bag per SWPO plant/slip or regular seed potato that I can get away with. For the latter, I have garnered a minimum 2-3 gallon pot or grow bag container will work (for the non-determinate varieties). I usually dump out and 'refresh' my soil every year in the spring, but I completely started tossing out the top 2" left in a pot 1st to minimize overwintering bugs/eggs. I should probably bake that portion in my oven to initiate a good kill, but that's a bit much right now. Maybe in the future. I have noticed my white fly situation is markedly less this year as a result. One pot I forgot about was the culprit when I happened to brush my hand against the the greenery, but I believe I noticed/caught it in time. Upon full, all over inspections since, so far, so good.🤞 I mostly container garden and that's the main recurrent pest I have dealt with so far.
