8 Tips for Better Color Photography
Why do some colour combinations work so well? How much colour is too much? How can you control colour in your shots when you can’t control the scene you’re shooting?
Good or bad use of colour is one of the biggest factors in why some photographic work looks amateurish, and some looks stunning. Learning how to use, control and edit colour is a vital part of learning colour photography. A lot of that is down to what you choose to put in the frame, but also there’s a large influence from how the colours are tweaked in post production. So I’ll take you through 8 quick tips, tricks, techniques and ideas for shooting and editing that will hopefully help you create photographs that use colour well.

@@jamiewindsor Honestly, it's the thing that differentiates if from just a regular talk about color I've seen so many times. I think it's a very good idea to put more of those little technical explanations, especially when it isn't that complex to present. Additionally, it all came together in the end, because you showed how to work with complementary colors, not against them in HSL which was a key point of intro. Love your content! :)

This video popped up on my feed at precisely the right moment. I just got my first few rolls of film back from the lab and I've been confounded by the colors of the film stock (Kodak Portra 160/400/800). While attempting to tweak the scans in Lightroom, the idea dawned on me that I have never truly invested time in understanding the nuanced differences between the various color grading tools in Lightroom. For years I was happy to take the simplest approach possible on this. I appreciate you putting this together.

master video! learned so many new LR tips! The preset setting alone was something I always did manually, this will save so much time.. You explain as if you know more about LR than adobe themselves, you understand what it does and translate this in your video's. Thank you for that.

It feels like I just watched a color master class, holy. Great video, I had no idea what calibration was or what the HSL panel was used for. That's insanely helpful! I still can't figure out the tone curve yet but you know, I eventually will I'm sure. If you made a video on it I'd love to see it!
