    Started my first koffucha ferment today, coincidentally. Just 2 cups' worth of sweetened coffee along with kombucha starter and a SCOBY. Thanks for the tip about tasting it daily. I shall do just that! Thanks, also, for the tip about exploding bottles. Memo to myself: do not use caramel in any of my brews.

    I still want to try this. I almost made it a month ago but that's when I was having water issues. Now I'm feeling fired up again lol. The basil flavoring was really good. Actually better than I expected but it didn't bubble up the way it does with fruit.

    Glad you liked the Brewch flavoring. Very tasty. Sorry you didn't get the bubbles you like though. I found a way to tone down the koffucha it's on of the next 2 video's I film but I'll tell you now in case you wanna try it. So instead of using the SCOBY just use starter tea. I've found this koffucha taste more like coffee. Using the SCOBY taste more like kombucha. Please let me know how it goes.

    I LOVE coffee, in a very serious way. I drink it hot and black, and I KNOW I'm exceeding the daily suggested serving size! I'll probably avoid learning another way to drink even more coffee. I also love coffee flavored stouts though, so maybe I'd better give Koffucha a try anyway just in case. I appears that you love coffee too Liz, and maybe have a lower tolerance to caffeine than some of us.................you were amped in this video! Very entertaining though. :D

    Haha. This was a funny video to record. I actually stopped drinking coffee a little over a year ago. The caffeine was too much for me. Even decaf was. So now in the morning I drink decaf tea. I can drink kombucha and I have a little coffee kombucha once in a while. I guess my system needs a rest. Give the koffucha a try if you're up for it. It's a very different flavor. Just don't expect it be taste like coffee. Be open to it and try not to judge. Ha! Solid wisdom for all areas of life. :) I'm glad you are here. You have a fun personality. Cheers!

    Hi Liz, I have been making three different kinds of Booch and coffee is one of them. I have not noticed it being ready any faster than my regular Booch but my Jun take like no time at all. I only tried a second ferment once and didn't really notice a difference, so I bottle mine and straight into the fridge. I have noticed that it is tasting a little different, so maybe I need a new SCOBY. Thanks for all you do.

    Hey there, Ken. That is interesting. Thanks for sharing. So just curious how long does your coffee kombucha ferment? Mine usually don't go past 5 days while my kombucha is more like 12-13. I've been thinking of trying Jun. Did you buy a Jun SCOBY or just convert a kombucha one? Thank you for that last comment. I appreciate you.

    Liz, I 'am new to making kombucha. When I used to buy from store I could drink a whole bottle but with mine home brew I get bad Headache . Is there any thing I can do different to solve this because I love kombucha. My brews do take a long time to ferment, and they form nice scobys. Thanks Patty

  • @KombuchaLiz

    Hi Patty. Sorry you're having I this problem. Some commercial brands filter out the yeast to make it look less cloudy (more appealing to consumers) which also filters out the good stuff like vitamins. Your headaches could be a detox symptoms? Maybe try drinking less for a week while your body goes through detox or mix it with some seltzer water so it's not that strong

    I wouldnt think xylitol would work for kombucha. Yes it would sweeten the tea but the reason xylitol is used in Dentyne gum is because the acid causing bacteria in your mouth can't process it and starve thus it is helpful in preventing tooth decay. I would think the same would be true for your SCOBY.

  • @KombuchaLiz

    @KombuchaLiz

    Yeah I agree. AT the time I used the xylitol I was doing keto and just wanted a way to sweeten the koffucha.

    @@KombuchaLiz Ah, I understand. That makes sense. My sister has been trying to follow the keto diet. Personally I dont really watch what I eat. Kombucha is probably the the healthiest thing I consume right now. Maybe that would be a good future topic for you: How people who hate "health food" can make healthier food choices! Lol In the past I have found if I want to lose weight the most effective "diet" for me is just limiting my caloric intake because I seriously cant stand the taste of most vegetables.
