The first day of my retirement I bagged up all my work clothes/shoes and took them to the Goodwill.
I feel identified after 11 months retired but working from home since 2019 and gaining weight during those years fir the stress. I m enjoing very much with your videos, advicing and tips!!!! Thank you 👍🏻🎉
I have been retired for a couple years now and a few months ago I went through my clothes, did some purging, and then divided the remaining pieces into 12 monthly capsule wardrobes. This is really helping me to see what I actually wear and when I wear it. At the end of each month I re-evaluate, make adjustments and I feel by the end of the year I will have a retirement wardrobe that I love and fully use.
You are spot on.
When I retired I moved to the Desert. I had to introduce cotton and linen loose fitting clothing in my wardrobe. I donated half my closet to charity. I had to rethink my style as well to suit my new lifestyle.
This was helpful. I retired 6 years ago and at that time I had no casual clothes that could be seen in public. I didn't even own a pair of jeans. I watched a lot of KZread videos and bought a whole new wardrobe, some of which are not really my style but I liked these things on other people. I still love what I had always worn which is a monochromatic base layer and a blazer but now I have a lot of denim jackets moto jackets, duster cardigans, and kimonos in addition to blazers and jeans.
Thank you, I retired from a professional career roughly 6 months ago and I’ve held onto most of my corporate wardrobe because I love that classic, tailored style. Thanks for the ideas.
Your video ‘illustrations’ are hilarious! Love the humorous additions to your sensible advice.
I'm retired and so glad you did this video....great top you have on.😍😍
Another excellent balanced video…. I’m always purging and it feels good
Perfect timing for me! Hubby just retired and I work part time and babysit grandchild 1 day per week.I will use these tips to look great everyday!
I thought I would enjoy "retirement clothes" but I miss my work clothes. I loved getting dressed up for the office. Now I live in a very casual warm weather year round place and live in skorts tshirts and sandals. It sounds great but I miss looking put together. I have a massive amount of clothes shoes accessories that just sit in my closet. Mainly because i have no where to wear them now being home so much. I find it depressing. My former fashionista self has gotten lazy in retirement. And have gained unwanted weight in the process which makes getting dressed even harder. Ugh!
OMG since finding you I have completely revamped my wardrobe and I didn’t even know I needed to 😱 I realised that I had a mountain of clothes that I never wore because I either didn’t have anything to wear them with, they didn’t suit me or they didn’t fit 😳. I now have a much smaller wardrobe that all mixes and matches and suits my lifestyle perfectly. I stopped working 6yrs ago to look after my husband and love smart casual comfy clothes and now thanks to you have an amazing wardrobe! It also makes going on holiday very easy as it’s now soooo easy to pack. So thanks and can’t wait for the next video xx
I love these tips. Thank you. I bagged up 6 bags (using your other tips) to donate in one day and then went to a cute boutique and added some casual pieces.
I am still kicking myself that I got rid of all of my blazers, silk blouses and dress pants when I retired 6 years ago as I have done nothing but attend funerals in the past year. Those clothes would have been perfect to wear to that type of occasion!
These are great tips! I’m really enjoying your channel and have shared it with my daughter who is far from 50! 😊
Great video with a lot of sage advice. I have a hard time decluttering , so I put all my clothes hangers the wrong way and then turned the right way after I wore an item. After 3 months, I was able to see what I wasn’t wearing and got rid of those pieces. Such good advice! We really need to keep the pieces we wear often. Thanks so much!
Good advice. I found, though, that I got really tired of wearing those same pieces in my wardrobe and THOSE were the ones I donated to charity. 😅
Very helpful!
