Great tips. Something for people to consider, if it takes you 1hr to write 1000 words (which is very fast- Im a fulltime author and i usually write 500/hr), it will take you 50 hours during the month. If you want to get to 50k, you have to set aside the time. Get ahead early, yes, but even if you fall behind, keep writing the daily minimum and try to get back on track. A little bit every day adds up. Its not about winning, its about getting as many words as possible on the page. One last tip, even if you dont feel like writing, set a 10 minute timer and start. By the end of the 10 minutes, i usually feel like i can keep going.

I found starting strong is great advice, but not to overdo it so you don't burn yourself out. Going too hard in the beginning can lead to burnout in the middle of the month.

Great tips! I'm doing NaNoWriMo for the first time this year, and I'm in the middle of prepping right now. I'm 25,000 words into this novel already, so I'm hoping these 50,000 words I'm determined to do in November will get me over the finish line! I've been using my vlogs to keep me accountable, and I'm going to vlog my NaNoWriMo experience, so fingers crossed.... I'll def keep these tips in mind!

I remember my first NaNo I failed because I wrote so much for the first few days that by, like, day 4 I thought I could slack off and yeah, it was that total momentum problem you're speaking of. I've found it works for me to never really consider myself as "ahead" and try to hit 1667 regardless. Another piece of advice that's great all the time, but especially for NaNo, is to end your writing session knowing what comes next. That might mean ending before you feel totally drained of your idea. It can be great to write down bullet points of everything else you were thinking of and save it for tomorrow so that it's easy to dive back into it. Something like committing 10 minutes at the end of your writing session to making sure that you know where you're starting tomorrow can help a lot!

Loved this, super to-the-point and practical types that are so easy to implement (in the sense it doesn't require excessive prep or getting other things!). I'm super excited to do NaNo for the first time this year to try to write my first ever novel, and I think no matter what happens, any progress is great progress and I'm looking forward to enjoying the ride!

The double spacing tip is great! The flow state kicks as the pages flow by. Getting the small dopamine kick from finishing a page is ideal. Thanks!

Good morning, Sara! I found your tips inspiring and well put for people who can write a book in 1 month time. I think another tip is not to procrastinate but be dedicated to see it through until it's done. Even though I know it depends on everyone's lifestyle because some have the time, and some don't. I'm also going to try and write in comic like you mentioned and see how it goes. Thank you for sharing your tips, have a lovely day and happy writing. ❤

Thank you for this video :) I will celebrate the end of NaNoWriMo too, but not each milestone, because I did it before, and it didn't work for me - if I do so, I don't care about writing itself, I care more about the reward.
