Other unique places in India. 1. The Sundarbans. 2. Salt/brackish water lakes in the east. 3. Backwaters of Kerala. 4. Tropical evergreen forests of Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, and Andaman and Nicobar islands. 5. Subtropical evergreen forests of eastern Himalayas. 6. Spectacular and perilous mountain/ghat roads with hairpin bends in SW and NE India. 7. Hundreds of historical, prehistoric, older, and less known sites other than Taj Mahal. (Sites from Indus valley civilization, historical sites in Rajasthan, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odisha etc). 8. Historical temples of southern and eastern India each unique to its local culture. 9. Beaches in peninsular India, Lakshadweep islands, Andaman and Nicobar islands and not just Goa. 10. Thousands of waterfalls of the south-west, northeast, and east India. 11. Gir national park, Kaziranga national park, and other tiger reserves and sanctuaries. India is a wonderland.

6:20 My father served in the Indian Air Force in a deployment to Arunachal Pradesh, though not as extreme east as the village Dong. He told me that sunrise and sunset in the Northeast are different from the concept of time we expect from looking at watches. The watches would show 4:30 am or 5:00 am, and the sun would already be seen rising. Similarly, in the evening, by the time it says 5:30 pm on the watches, the sun would have already set. It kind of feels weird to see the sunrise and sunset so early. 6:44 It might feel that tourists might overcrowd the place, but as the village is so close to the LAC (Indo-China Border), there will be some form of security to vet down and control tourists to prevent overcrowding. 8:23 My father also served in the Air Force Base at Naliya during his service, which is one of the westernmost Air Force Bases in the country, and the concept of time is again weird here as well. Sunrise doesn't happen till 6:30-7:00 am, and sunset is after 7:00 pm, another oddity to compare with watches. These things make us think about how irrelevant watches and timezones feel at a local level, and we should probably follow the sun for day-to-day work. Also, India is crazy in the extremities that it has within itself.

I am from Nainital and during summers I can't even step a foot outside my house due to overcrowding because of tourist. A lot of people don't even care about the local flora and fauna they throw trash all over the town and even on the way to the town. The lower mall road has collapsed many times and yes the drunkards during New year. PS- If you want to explore Nainital please do visit Governor's house(One of the only two governor's house in India that are open to the public, it is situated on top of the mountain + it has one of the most beautiful golf course and the gothic architecture of the palace is just breathtaking), Devsthal observatory(It has Asia's largest reflecting telescope), Jim corbett National park(Ramnagar), Nainital zoo(highest altitude zoo in Asia), bhimtal, sattal, naukuchiyatal, kaichi dham(steve jobs, mark zuckerberg, julia roberts, virat kohli and a lot of celebs have visited the place because of neeb karori baba) karkotak(snake temple), chota kailash, snow view point and many more..

These are the onlt things that I can recall for now. If you are interested in trekking then I will recommend you to visit Pithoragarh ( another town).

Sadly, Andrew, I don't think it is possible to cover the easternmost and westernmost points in India in one day. As they said in the video, Dong Valley is quite remote and it would take at least 13-14 hours to reach the nearest airport (Itanagar, I believe). Then, you would need to change flights at least twice to reach the State of Gujarat from where you can proceed to the westernmost point in India (somewhere in Kutch district). That said, almost every Indian state has enough places of tourist attraction to keep you engaged for years.

India and the US are pretty similar in terms of having diverse environments; tundra, desert, plains, forests, beach and mountainous. India however has plenty of jungle environments and the last jungle "the Florida Everglades" within America no longer exists. It got transformed into farmland in the early 2000's.
