Greetings from Missouri. This is a great video. I love your honest reviews with suggestions for improvement, and what you might do differently next time. I have started religiously keeping notes on most of my cooks so that I can refer back and eliminate mistakes. I've seen all your videos. I also love the Chat area. I knew you were from there from a t-shirt you wore in a previous video. I've got family at Ringgold. I'm doing a Sam's Club pork belly today.
I knew you were my guy to listen too when I noticed we both have the same weber BBQ and same pellet smoker haha
Chattanooga! I know I miss Coca-Cola cake and chicken from Bea's restaurant. Peace and good ju-ju from Phoenix Arizona!
Dude, your videos are so awesome. It's real man's BBQ, not what you see on these staged cooks. Well done.

Thank you 👍🏿. Most of us KZreadrs don't have the budget to be _staged_ , so we have to keep it real 😂.
Solid video! Thank you . Laid back, simple steps, wonderful results! I've done this method twice now. Everyone loves it.
Just smoked my first brisket yesterday (7/22/2022). Was reading a lot of stuff around online and it was getting confused with all the different recommendations. This video was simple with straight advice of what you were doing, why, and what you learned. Thank you for the video! Brisket turned out great. I ended up wrapping when the meat stalled and it all worked out. Appreciate the video.
I enjoy watching you enjoy that brisket at the end! Thank you so much Darnel!
Thank you for showing us a quicker technique on a full brisket. Good work!
Thanks for the tips. My GM grill is new still. Going to try a brisket for the first time this week
Thank you for sharing! Got my 8 hour Brisket on right now!
That is a beautiful smoke ring!
Looks fantastic!!

Great video sir. Love it!
The ring is awesome, but the amount of juice is insane. Cooked to perfection.
Thank you for the video. It's a process for sure and I appreciate you sharing your expertise. It's truly continuous learning a true art form for the ultimate meat! Thanks!

Very informative! That’s a like and a subscribe!
Bro those gloves kicked your behind lol. Great video man, really enjoyed it. Using your advice for my first brisket soon.
Boy i been watching cause you got that pizza oven. You have fumbled with inserting pizzas but you made a brisket without wrapping. Kudos my friend. Good job

Good looking brisket! We just released one that I did on my Kamado Joe! I will have to ask at Costco about a full brisket, here in PA, they only ever have the flat. I go to my local butcher for the whole brisket.
Very helpful video. Well done. Dig your channel

Great video D. Try the lumberjack pellets when you get a chance. One thing I like about them is they are 100% one wood type vs these blends most are. It really gives you an idea what each wood type smells/tastes like.

One suggestion...Put the meat on and then start the smoker, otherwise you miss out on all of the mass quantities of startup smoke. Great smoker btw. I have the Jim Bowie.
@DGrill

That is a whole lot of excess soot, that doesn't contribute to overall smoke penetration. The best smoke is the smoke you don't see much 🙂
Where can I donate to get you a bigger pan to trim in? Jokes aside, great video!
So. Learn anything from then till now 2 years later? Just bought my Daniel Boone and trying my first brisket now. Following your instructions. Fingers crossed!

About how far in do you insert the probes that come with the grill? I find that they’re a little off compared to the handheld I have. Thanks for your videos. Will probably try this “quick version” this weekend. Cheers from L.A.
@DGrill
5 жыл бұрын
Stick the meat probe in as deep into the biggest piece of meat as possible. The probe built into the grill can be adjusted when it not reading correctly. I showed how in a past video. Don't recall which, but it's doable.
Always curious how many pounds of pellets you'd go through on a long cook like this where it's not running too hot
Nice vid. I prefer lower and slower. Tender is a big deal to me. Maybe 220 degrees for 16 hours works. Just put it on at 10 PM and go to sleep. I think if that hopper is full, then the timing should work. I don't own of these grills so I'd have to read up on the possibilities. A really nice spritz is about 6 to 8 parts apple juice, 1 part hot sauce, 1 part red wine vinegar, and 1 part Worcestershire sauce. Spritz and later, add that liquid to a saucepan and add a little veg oil, and reduce by half. Use a paint brush and apply when/if needed. BTW, nice smoke ring. Been hearing that electric smokers have a sad smoke ring. Now I know, that's just fake news!!

I do different types of Brisket cooks. For a long slow and low, see here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nIWuttxsadLPibA.html Far as "electric smokers", that's a totally different kind of smoker. This is a pellet smoker grill. Although this uses electricity, it's not the "electric smoker" you were told about. I am personally not a fan of "electric smokers" either. But some folks enjoy them. They usually look like a big black box, with racks inside for smoking meat.
Hey I just purchased a GMG Daniel Boone and waiting for it to be delivered later this week. Found your site when doing a search. Your experience and recopies using the GMG looks great. Any beginner tips? Best pellets and maybe what would you recommend me to cook first? Great channel.

Love your videos. Learning so much. Question, I got the Weber smoker box. At first I just placed it in the rear of the grill. All the smoke went out the back. Food had no smoked flavor. I noticed you dropped yours in and lifted one of the grated slightly. Did that yesterday when I smoked a bone in pork roast and Mac n Cheese. Same thing all smoke goes out the back. No smoked flavor at all. Is it because I’m using soaked chips v chunks ? Very frustrating!!

D Grill Thanks so much! Don’t know how I missed that video you made. I’ve been thinking that I’m not placing my food close enough to the box AND I may be leaving the heat up too high on the burner under the box! I shall preserve!!
Does any other maker have the same "profiles" that GMG pellet smokers can work with, initiated by the app? That is amazing technology...
@DGrill

I have only used GMG's and I cannot even export them to save later. So whenever I have to factory reset my phone I lose any custom profiles I made. I end up having to watch my own videos again to recreate them.

wow that's a loud smoker
have you tried with a water pan on your smoker
@DGrill

I am aware of the method, but it's not something I do. The pellets have moisture and the smoker maintains temp well.
If you went say, 18 hours at about 225F, will the hopper go through a full load or will you have to top it off at some point ?

But he’s asking why?
@DGrill
4 жыл бұрын
Why keep it is a better question 🙂 A large fat cap is not going to render to the point of being enjoyable to eat. It also prevents seasoning sticking to that side, and prevents smoke penetration. I used to keep it just because many do. But after _eating_ a lot of brisket, I realized there's not a good reason to keep much of it.
It’s a year old video but looking at it to do a heal roast think it will be the same?
