This was so useful! I was able to clean up about 100 gigs from viewing the Storage portion and finding developer cache stuff that I don't need anymore! Thanks so much!
Came across your channel right as the M1 Pro MacBooks were being released, glad I picked one up. One of my favorite tech channels

For me it gets slow after a couple of weeks. Likely due to RAM leaks due to chromium apps 😅

Your not the only one. With the M1/M2 Pro and Max chips instead of trying forcing the Mac to use mainly the efficiency cores Apple tuned the chips to just cap the wattage to a point where they are still fast but are just more efficient. The performance drops but not by anywhere near the amount the M1 chip does. I can tell the difference personally when starting to push it, but it’s not massive.
AWESOME VIDEO!!!!! Many helpful tips, definitely saving this video.
Thanks for this wonderful video. I was so close to downloading more ram.

Hi, I asked in another post, if I have to buy a new Mac asap, coming from the Mac Pro 2019, what do u suggest I buy, given all you’ve announced coming in 2023, I need to buy the coming week… Thanks 🙏🏻

I can tell you this guide is spot on.
That terminal command for purging memory is pretty useful. It purged about 10% of uneeded processes. It was fun watching that drop in iStat Menu.

If on your WiFi router you set 5GHz to max power and 2.4GHz to half power (same name), then your Mac/phone will prefer 5GHz when in range but still seamlessly connect to 2.4GHz when far away or outside when 5GHz doesn't reach. Note that having multiple WiFi names causes AirPlay to disconnect every time it changes which WiFi name it's connected to, especially phones with WiFi Private Address turned on (default)
@MaxTechOfficial

Thanks for the tip. I personally need my 2.4ghz to be full power because of smart home accessories that are far away which some of them still have a lower than I’d like signal even at full power, and of course most of these only support 2.4ghz.
Thank you so much 🙏... I'am new to this ecosistem.

Will these help with an m2 Mac mini
i am actually watching this video with my m2 macbook air thanks for this video i actually bought my mac as per your opinion
How do I enter that login screen on High Sierra? Is there similar video? I can't find it. There is completely different settings menu and I suspect something can be done to run it faster on my old MacBook air with 4 gigs of RAM.
Cheers Bro.
Hello. I have an issue with my airpods pro 1st gen. I’m experiencing static and crackling noise. My airpods are out of warranty but i came to know about the apple service program. Unfortunately it only applies to the AirPods manufactured before October 2020 and I purchased mine in October 2021. Is there any way to get my airpods repaired or replaced. Hoping for your kind reply.
How do you get the CPU temp in your menu bar?
Where to find "Allow in Background" on Monterey?
If you set your Mac to restart at midnight, do your windows reopen? Also do you need to be on the computer at the time for it to do this?
You can also get a little performance boost by reducing your screen resolution and by turning off animations and high contrast on ur desktop.
What version of Mac OS are you using? Your battery settings look different to mine.

Confusing: at 1:23 he says you can "uncheck Animate Opening Animations," yet there is no such feature on his computer screen (nor on my Mac Air running OS 11.7.10).

I can't display the energy modes, do you know the reason? In the first section there is Low Power Mode which is 'never' selected. then it continues with battery health then the figures, not modes. (MacBook Pro M2 14 inch 2023)

One quibble with this video. You shouldn't have to restart unless absolutely necessary. macOS is built on UNIX. A lot of server farms run on UNIX-based operating systems because of outstanding stability and uptime. Most of the time, if you logout & log back in this will fix an issue. My 2013 MacBook Pro had 334 days uptime with no slowdowns. When its keyboard didn't work on wake one afternoon (a software bug at the time) I had to force a restart. If you're having an issue where you need to restart regularly there's a piece of software installed that's causing the issue.
@MaxTechOfficial
Жыл бұрын
It’s absolutely third party software and on some occasions bugs from new MacOS updates (for example my airdrop not working and crashing finder, which is fixed with a restart) If you just have the mac apps and use safari the experience is way better but for most people once they load up with third party apps some of them have issues. Another one I have is a motion VFX plugin that we use in most videos will randomly unconnected but only in the exported video while it looks perfectly fine in Final Cut. A restart also fixes this.
Where can I find back ground apps on my Mac?

System settings/system preferences>general>login items. If it's older mac need to go into system preferences>users and groups>login items tab and click lock bottom left to unlock to make changes, choose item and click the minus icon below it to remove or move slider to left to turn off. You can still use those programs just won't be running 24/7 on startup.
I have a 2018 mac book pro and when I tried doing the sudo perge command, I got “command not found” message. Anyone else run into this? How to fix this?
Oh I thought this would tell how to turn on Turbo Boost to enable all the 8 cores and M1 processors to max . 😩
@Epicgamer_Mac
Жыл бұрын
Apple Silicon doesn’t have Turbo Boost. Doesn’t matter because in the Mac, their processors are way faster than Intel’s anyway. If you have a 16 inch Pro, however, there is a high power mode you can turn on to force it to clock higher (I believe 3.67 GHz vs 3.49 GHz).
Just downloaded AlDente, and set it to 60%. Done
The Bonus tip is very confusing. You seem you zoom in on the wrong spot as the setting is not there. The setting is above. 1:18

Surprised you didn’t mention “Reduce Motion” in Accessibility-Display. I turned that on and it turns off all the animations making my Mac feel much more responsive.
@thecaptainseye
Жыл бұрын
Ok, unironically, I’m sorry, I don’t get it. You mean “reduce motion” makes a noticeable difference in performance on an M1 Mac? The same Mac that handles 8K footage smoothly?

@christianmiller6804
Жыл бұрын
@@thecaptainseye I said that “reduce motion” makes my Mac “feel” faster, not in terms of actual performance but rather faster interactions. It is my opinion. Others may find this to be true as well. I was just giving a tip for those who prefer less animations. Your response shows a lack of understanding in what I wrote. @Seek Each Day however understood my meaning as they clearly pointed out the key word used is “feel.”

What do you mean "restart mac"? I will soon reach a milestone of a half a year since last boot! Hell, I even manually rebooted the headphones driver when it felt funky Also, logging out of all users with re-open tasks feature disabled should provide same result as reboot since critical processes (usually run by the root user) *shouldn't* be affected by your regular user. I mean, if they do, reboot won't help
Who have a MacBook Air m2 8/256, please test how it working when opened 10 tabs in chrome and opened excel file 🙏🙏🙏
You should warn people about how they can easily get an iCloud Disk (Archive) folder with all their iCloud files taking up a ton of space.

Those things can help but U still need to restart Ur computer coz of memory leaks. 🤔🤔🤔💯👍👍👍
That’s why having a Macbook is extremly enoying. You never finish setting it up. I’m seriously thinking in going back to Windows. I’ m having a KATARSIS right now….
You don’t have to restart your Mac because it’s built on Unix. Only way you have to restart is when you have a major issue. And now with Apple silicone you don’t have to worry.
@MaxTechOfficial
Жыл бұрын
While it is built on Unix, we still have issues mostly with third party software and plugins that mess stuff up. I’ve replied to a few other comments about this with more detail.
absolutely brilliant. I had no idea i was dragging around such crapola - nearly 2TB worth of junk of 20 years ago! My mac is now running 4x faster in all areas. Thank you MaxTech!!!
auto restart every night seems like a great way to accidentally lose a lot of unsaved work.
Thanks for the advice, but I've been using Apple computers since 1994 and I can say that the Sonoma system is the most screwed-up and most buggy operating system in Apple's history. We don't spend thousands of dollars to sit and waste several hours a day repairing the system or fiddling with settings to make, for example, the external drive visible, the external monitor working, the email application working, etc. The idea of Apple died with Steve Jobs.

Nothing from above makes your Mac actually faster, except the battery option. Everything else is just a clean-up and optimize thing. Plus, what's hidden here? :)

You don’t have to periodically restart your mac. It is not a windows computer.

I only restart the mac when there is an update. There is no need for daily restarts. MacOS has its own clean-up processes that are much better then all if you do it by yourself.
