Cold War dogfights are really cool. Their like some weird hybrid of WW2 and modern fights where it’s not quite BVR but it’s quite different from dogfights with guns. In my opinion that’s what makes them so cool.

@@TheGruntGuy321 , @thelittletanket689 Though I do respect your opinions I would say modern dogfights are a little more than missile go boom. When at BVR (Beyond Visual Range) you have the capabilities to defend against missiles by either cranking or dragging the missile to a lower altitude to bleed its energy. If you are to close to defend you can use counter measures such as chaff and flare with sharp maneuvers. If you enter dogfighting range with a bandit you can hug them and min range missiles like sidewinders. From there you can force a two or one circle fight while managing speed and closer to work your way to the rear of a bandit and get the kill. If you would like a video version of this explanation watch Growling Sidewinder he does dcs videos and explains dogfights really well with all types of aircraft especially modern. hope this allows you to love all dogfights as though modern are different they are still very cool.

I would love it if Yarnhub did a video on the Monchy 9 of Newfoundland. 9 men of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment positioned at Monchy-le-Preux during the Battle of Arras in 1917 hid behind shrubbery and defended the town from a German force anywhere from 200 - 300 men strong for 11 hours to prevent a German break through. I think it is a very cool and very underrated battle that sounds like the plot of a movie.

I want to thank y’all for getting off of our asses after the conclusion of the War of 1812, though y’all still went rogue occasionally on that forced conscription into your Navy of virtually anyone you could run down with your vessels. I think y’all more than made up for it by providing us with Monty Python, the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and by sharing your discovery(?)/development of radar with us. On a serious note, many brave British men and women have sacrificed their lives to support our individual and collective efforts to be strong, successful, free, and a response and a hedge to forces that would deprive us of those ends. In the Soviet version of Powers' story, he did not eject because he did not trust the CIA, and, as it turns out later, for good reason: an explosive charge was hidden under the seat, which would have gone off if he tried to eject the chair

Second story has some top gun references of when they flew by the ATC tower in the F-14 tomcat and the guy spilt his coffee. Remember the scene “YOU ASSHOLES DID A FLYBY OF MY TOWER AT 400 KNOTS”
