My daughter had let me know about the girls home life and how their moms didn't pay attention to them and would push them aside for younger siblings? I had an abusive mom who did not protect me from my absent dad's pedo/abusive brother, and she served me up as the sacrificial lamb to him so he wouldn't bother the other kids. I knew exactly how to treat my daughter's friends.....u make them feel wanted and a part of a family? They were so happy and always wanted to come over. They would talk to me about their problems and I was able to mend their relationships with their moms. I had found out that the mothers were also broken women, but I assured them that their eldest daughters could help them mend their own pain by including them or doing activities together and it thankfully worked. Most kids and teens just want to be wanted and loved.
It Weeps at Twilight was a really engagingly written (if completely made up) story.
