Thank you for the great video. I use split DNS and DHCP on my LAN. Chromecast is apparently hard coded to Google's DNS server(s) meaning the host name from my Synology Photos app resolves to the external IP and not internal IP. My router does not support NAT loopback. Why would Chromecast hard code DNS servers and not use those assigned with DHCP!? Stupid and useless for casting from the Synology. Any workaround known please? Casting works if using internal IP - so I'm sure it's DNS related.

Instinctively connected my device to my tv to power it. Makes most sense to me.

Hello I m not at ease with chromecast full hd. I want to watch foreign programms on my chromecast. I live in europe. I ve got Nordnet vpn. When I use my smartphone and vpn, it doesn't work, for example when I open a tv or movie legal app. It seems like chromecast blocks foreign dns addresses. For tv I use another app linked to chromecast, and it works through tv channels browser on this app. i heard about DNS google block, virtual or physical routers. I ve got fire stick to, just bought yesterday. Which solutions ? Thanx for help if you have time of course.

Yeah, I found it hard to understand a lot of what he was saying first time, I had to rewind several times. He sounds like he has every speech impediment known to man! He should try to pronunciate with more clarity. I am not hating, this video was very helpful, I had to do public speaking before and clarity of speech takes some work but its worth it. Thumbs up for the video content though.

Is there no way to set up Chromecast to work with mobile data, rather than a home router? Without using 2 phones? I don't have a router. I only use my unlimited mobile data, I'm cheap. This seems like a ridiculous limitation if you can't set it up using mobile data. My newMoto G8 Power doesn't support Miracast so can't use my Netgear PTV3000 I used with my old phone.

Roger Perrett if you want that to work then first thing you need to do is: go to tv Bluetooth settings and make the audio output from ur phone and then select the video from ur phone and play through Google chromecast. Hope this works.

Cast with the Localcast app, it had audio output options. But it's hard/annoying to get the a/v to sync

Bruh the chromecast version he has doesnt come with a remote (and they all didnt when this video was uploaded) it wasnt untill recently that they released the google tv model that came with a remote. Do your research

Plugging it into your TV USB port is such a bad idea. You are literally forcefully turning it off every time you power off your TV and when you want to use the Chromecast, you have to wait for it to turn on EVERY TIME. Stupid and could potentially break it because of that constant turning off done the wrong way
