Except the 40% didn't vote for DA minority rule agenda, the electorate were duped by the ANC who campaign on the black empowerment agenda. Only to betray the aspirations of their voters by sacrificing it on the altar of economically connected powerful minority formation that only managed to gain 5% of the urban black vote. 90% of the black vote elected parties offering black empowerment manifestos, only to be shut out by this DA/ANC coalition. If that doesn't run in the face of democracy, voter enfranchisement & the will of the people, than our concept of representative government is warped & perverted.

The constituency of the ANC were duped by them, after them campaigning on a black empowerment ticket, only to sold their voters for political expediency. The policies of the DA only attracted 5% of black urban voters with the traditional White, Coloured and Indian base tallying up to 21%. Across the political spectrum the ANC competitors for the black empowerment vote got 30%, that a more than 90% black vote for something different than what the DA & similar parties have offered. To betray the overwhelming black vote and sell it off to a traditional minority agenda is inexcusable and undemocratic to say the least. And the cruelty lies therein that the will of the voters have been subverted a week into the next 5-year election cycle. The black voters will not forget this betrayal.

You are the first person that I have come across that thinks that the ANC was given a mandate to work with everyone. That is not true the ANC has another option, and that is to form a coalition with parties of their choosing and that is exactly what they are doing. A GNU means that everyone in parliament is part of the government and there are no opposition parties. The MK and Eff together make up enough numbers to form an opposition. The ANC since Mandela to Cyril has been leaning more and more towards neoliberal policies. That is why they are able to form a grand coalition with the DA and VF, because they don't see a problem in working with parties of that Ideological Orientation. The ANC has on many occasions spoken left and walked right. A simple example is that they have failed to run the SOE's to a point where they even sold parts or some of them to private companies.

But I do understand that all parties were invited and they got too busy suggesting to the ANC how they can't be party to GNU with certain parties involved because of misalignment with policies, understood, but I thick the best way was for them to put their differences aside and work on common policies that benefit and represent how the citizens voted. Corruption and self-serving officials is rather the biggest cause for our demise and it is not immune to any party. The reason why ANC has been getting the majority votes to date is because there are no better options, according to voters. It is really sad that colonial structures are still at play. We are held ransom by the privileges of I'll gained deep pockets of the west.

@@tshimangadzomaumela1858 It is not practical for any socialist orientated party to work on common policies with the ANC and DA because that would mean compromising the Struggle for Economic Freedom. The ANC has already compromised so much for too long and the I doubt it would be of any benefit for the EFF or for the country for them to be a part of that kind of uselessness. They would just add to the list of sellouts and compromisers who have been ruling for the past 30 years, and that includes the Communist party and COSATU. Corruption is a problem as it adds to the reasons why the ANC has compromised on their own policies but corruption also spans from the way the current government is structured. The issue of tenders for instance has been pointed out that it leads to the abuse of the system and should be changed by building state capacity. There should also be strict measures put in place to be able to detect such instances of corruption and punish them. How ever solving the issue of corruption alone won't be enough because to solve the issues of inequality, and unemployment, and poverty etc. you need to have a plan and the best plan for that is to execute the 7 non negotiable cardinal pillars of the EFF any other thing that the government will do will be futile in the long run. The alternative for the country is the EFF it just a pity that the majority of South Africans do not recognize that. And there are many reasons as to why? The EFF's plan is a copy of what countries like China and Vietnam have been doing to get their economies to where they are today.

I am not sure how this is going to help their individual parties. Now that they have common interest, why don't they consolidate, and form one big party as an opposition to GNU?

I see what happening, this is the 13% should ANC and DA fail they will need to fall on
