my thoughts about taxes are we need to implement modern monetary theory, where you do away with income tax and corporate tax, you then use things like VAT and sin taxes if needed to control inflation, but government spending is then decoupled from taxes so you write off any debt the government owes each year (owes to itself, basically), allowing the government to set the budget at whatever size they want, if they end up putting too much money into the economy they raise VAT or such to cool it down.
