A very nice, rounded presentation Maarten. Looks like a well built specialty lens, a welcomed addition to any kit. I like the 'old school' leather case too.

Thanks for this review with your pleasant manner and good information. I have used the Rokinon 7.5mm fisheye lens on MFT and easily defished and processed the RAWs in DxO Photolab (or defished JPEGs in DxO Viewpoint) and found it invaluable for some architectural shots. Typically, those turn out best when the camera is set up with the sensor plumb and/or plano-parallel to the dominant subject plane, so I use an electronic level on my tripod's panhead before attaching the camera, which is more precise than the camera's built-in one. As with MFT, I expect fisheye photos taken with a FF camera will require some work in post to correct edge color and sharpness deficiencies, the worst of which can be cropped out of the frame. Moving now into FF format, I definitely will buy this lens which appears to be a terrific value. Note that for video, the Sigma FP (L-Mount) can be set as low as ISO 6 and is good for shooting with a lens like this since it can obviate the need for an ND filter.

No questions from me, just wanted to say that I love my 7Artisans 7.5mm fisheye lens for APS-C Fuji X-Mount! Manual focus and aperture like this lens, but a great piece of kit to have and stimulate your creativity.

Thanks! I’m curious why there are two companies out of China, 7 Artisans and TTArtisan, with similar names and lenses but that apparently are separate companies. I’ve been testing the 11mm f/2.8 fish-eye and 21mm f/1.5 (an odd maximum aperture) from TTArtisan. The 21mm has an odd magenta cast to the sides of the image, so not just vignetting but a colour shift.

No idea, but it does seem to be more and more common for a single product to sport multiple brand names. Maybe they're region specific?

@@MaartenHeilbron Thanks! In the case of the two "Artisans" companies I don't think they have the same lenses in their lineup -- similar, but not the same. One would think you would never want your company name and products to be confused with the competition. But the naming of Asian lenses is rife with confusion -- why do we get the same products branded as Samyang and Rokinon? All to do with what sells in what market I guess, or what names are registered where. And yet we can buy both versions of identical lenses here, sometimes at quite different prices. Sounds like a topic for one of your virtual debates with Paul!

@Alan Dyer Re: 7artisans/TTartisans. Hi Alan, I've been looking at ultra-wide MF lenses and specifically the 7artisans 10mm Fisheye. I was also confused by the two company names. They are two distinct companies and as I understand it, development of the original business took so long that several staff left, those that remained became 7artisans (based on the 7 staff that stayed) and one of those that left went on to form another company called TTartisans. Apparently there has been some litigation but for now, both companies seem to be coexisting.
