    Worth pointing out that it's slightly more expensive than the ttartisan 11mm f2.8, though the difference is small enough that most people would simply pick whichever one performs better, but Chris sadly hasn't reviewed that one so it's hard to tell.

    Was going to say something similar, I have the 11mm and really enjoy it and would be curious how it compares to this 10mm. Although honestly because the 11 is cheaper that's probably the way to go for most people.

    @@TaylorPassofaro mine is poor at open apertures, I have to shoot f8 and focus just before infinity then everythings fairly sharp on a Canon M200 is yours better than that? Dont know if Ive got a bad example

    @@jukeboxjohnnie Ouch, might be a decentered version! I've had that happen, mine is nicely sharp at f2.8 but maybe I haven't pixel peeped enough! I also have a 12mm voightlander rectilinear lens and my 11mm beats it in performance but it's a bit unfair comparing fisheye to rectilinear.

    On Sony alpha blogs review it seemed the 11 is sharper. But also actually more like 13 mm. The Samyang 12 was wider apparently. So. ..guess I would not go1 mm wider. ...now just wonder how true the 10mm is to it's number.

    Great review again, I'm using the TT artisans 11 mm Fisheye on the Z7/Z6, works great for astro as well, its good in the corners. I could highly recommend that one for the Nikon system. Corncerning what I have seen on the Sony bodies it shows some field curvature due to a thicker sensor stack. This might also be the case for the 7 Artisans.

    @@future2300 This is a good review of the TT-Artisans 11mm f2.8 on a Sony and Leica sensor. Phillippe Reeve didn't test the 10mm 7 Artisans though. TT-Artisans seems to be cheaper and a bit better.

    A circular fisheye is WAY less useful than a full frame. I have the 8-15mm Canon zoom fisheye and I'd say 97% of my photos with it are at 14 or 15mm where it covers the whole frame. I used to own a 7D and on there it was FF at about 10mm, so the zoom was quite useful.

    With the very simple distortion (not "mustache-y") I wonder what photos or video from this lens would look like using post-processing to correct the distortion? My assumption is that image quality in the corners of a corrected image would be poor due to being stretched, but that's only an assumption with no real facts to go on.

  • @Penguins247

    @Penguins247

    You lose a lot of the wideness if you correct the distortion, as you'll have to crop quite heavily to keep the frame rectangular. You'd end up with far more in the frame if you used one of the Laowa Zero-D ultrawides instead, and they have the added bonus that you wouldn't have to correct all your footage afterwards. With so many good ultrawide rectilinear lenses on the market these days I'd only shoot fisheye if you want the distortion for artistic effect.

    Hi, I would recommend to check a software called Fisheye-Hemi. There is also a great forum thread on fredmiranda online about de-fishing this type of lens with various software. Fisheye Hemi can de-fish without stretching and much less cropping. Astro photographers use this to de-fish the foreground (search KZread). I am using this with the 11mm 2.8 TT Artisan (around f4) for landscape and astro as I couldn't afford the Sigma 14mm for L-mount. Hope it helps!

    @@Penguins247 i mean. Alot? A bit. At least in case of applying a Samyang 7.5mm profile in Lightroom to a 10mm f8 apsc fisheye on fullframe . And I think you gotta see some nuance there. You lose that resolution in the corners. Relevant for some, less so for others.
