Man that’s some kind of dedication of those men and women Even if music 🎶 is their Major I see it takes hard work and dedication to be so studious in a band like the NATIONALLY KNOWN TEXAS AGGIE BAND This Band makes me proud to be from the State of Texas 🤩 Especially when I hear that Noble Men Song 🎵🤩💪🏾 👏🏾🙌🏾

Fantastic band, of course, but can someone help my inquisitive side? What determines who wears breeches and riding boots and spurs? White belts versus black? Different colored braided rope on left shoulder? Thanks for any help!

Howdy. Seniors wear breeches and boots. White belts are worn by juniors and seniors. Braided rope (cords) generally signify membership in special units such as Fish Drill Team, Ross Volunteers, Mounted Calvery, OR Simpson Honor Society, etc.

White belts with white piping on their covers are juniors.

You can’t tell me someone hasn’t been pegged in the head with a trombone, if not several times every rehearsal.

@@poconofriend777 Freshmen and sophomores wear black belts and juniors and seniors wear white belts. By shoulder ornaments, you are probably referring to the cords worn on the left shoulder. They represent being a member of a special unit such as the Fish Drill Team, Parsons Mounted Calvery, Ross Volunteers, etc.

During WWII, some students had to go to war before they got their senior boots. Decades later, they were given their boots and were buried with them.

Can you not be a cadet and be in the band?

You have to be in the corps of cadets to be in the band but you don’t have to sign a future military contract to serve in the corps of cadets. Mandatory Corps membership ended in the 60s. Same time that A&M went coed.

@@TXnine7nineThank you for that explanation. I couldn’t figure out all the references to “Military Band”, and the uniforms, when Texas A&M is not a Military College. I’m sure they’ve won every competition there is - unreal quality.

Thanks so much for posting. The women in most of the marching bands I have seen are not integrated as these people are. You usually don't even see the band - just the underdressed and suggestive dancing by the women. What a waste of a great tradition. Not that I don't like women dancing - just not in this case.

Freshmen, sophomore and Juniors wear normal shoes. Once they become Seniors, they switch to boots and will have their A&M ring.

It was an all male military university in College Station with the companion all female college, Texas Women's Unversity, in Denton. When women could attend Texas A&M, the military requirement was dropped. The Corp drives the culture, however.
