Loving this ride! I'm from the UK and drove up to Denver just once, circa 1990...afternoon thunderstorms; never seen lightening like that before! Ride on.

Oh yeah, Denver has lighting shows every afternoon. I love The Rockies.
The Apex jacket is the secret weapon for cold, long rides. 8.7 ounces and you get a hood for free! Mine is the same as yours - lovin' it....

Chillin.
That was a smooth cruising down hill, piece of cake. Going back wont be so fun if you can't find a friend to bail you out.

The downhill is sick, I wanna try 30 mph on a bicycle.
A helmet cover would keep your head dry and much warmer. Paddlers neoprene gloves are waterproof.

Some busy roads out that way, helluva nice ride.
Enjoying the heck out of your ride!! I find it really refreshing that you share your humor and occasional mistakes with us too. I'll be on the route this July, north to south border-to-border. I'm also reading the guidebook and keeping pace with your videos for gear and versatile clothing ideas to follow. I've yet to choose my navigation head unit, but I see it appears you're using a Wahoo Bolt, or Roam. That's on the top of my possibility list. Question. It appears the Roam has a 17 hour battery life. Are you recharging every night with a battery bank? If so how many banks do you carry to not get stuck in the middle of nowhere without a working head unit? Thx in advance! Keep up the great and fun work.

Hey, thanks for following along. im going to do some full gear reviews after the GDMBR footage, you may be interested in those videos. I am using The Wahoo Element Roam, it chirps when you are slightly off route, I rode past my turns everyday, if it wasn't chirping I would have kept cruising, so I feel that it saved my mileage and time in the long run. It says charged as long as you need it to, its an awesome GPS. I charged it overnight with a battery pack. I wouldn't be a great barometer for how many battery packs to carry because Im also charging cameras. So I had 4 battery packs. But the battery life is incredible, 17 hours is totally accurate. It stops and turns off when the bike does, and fires back up when the bike starts moving. I would buy this GPS again. Hope this helps.

Easiest navigation for me at 68 was my iPhone 12. Adventure Cycling Assoc (ACA) free phone app is very easy to use. Each map section is $10, put your phone in Satellite mode, then follow your blue dot. Simple. I never got lost, never missed a turn. I took one small Anker battery pack with me (size of cig pack) and only used it twice because all the stores, cafes, people along trail let you recharge phones. I also took the paper map set from ACA with me and it is great to plan the next day or two ahead for water, food, fuel. Also mileage, camp, elevation is easy to figure out with the paper maps. Traveling Thru shows real life on the gdmbr. I've road toured for years since the 1980's, and the Great Divide is much different because no two days are the same, and it's more difficult. I averaged about 50 miles per day with more rest days. Happy trails!

@@Chunt1A You're welcome. gdmbr most riders are using hardtail mtn bike with 2.25" tires, Fox 34. I found Maxxis Crossmark 2.25" great, there were some baby head rock sections, but overall that tire was good. I used only Revelate brand frame bags, no racks. Sweet Roll, Feedbags, Gas Tank, Frame Bag, and Seat Pack. July temps, weather, is pretty easy. A 20 deg bag, small tent, pad, small stove, few tools. I took a light rain jacket, one midweight fleece, one puff vest, 2X long poly T's, 2X Patagonia board shorts, 1 pr light poly pants, 1 pr light poly long johns, 2X Darn Tough socks, 1X running hat, toiletries bag. Totl wt minus food/water 18 lbs. Most days started in am with 3L water. I cycled in poly T shirt and board shorts on Brooks B-17 saddle with flat pedals. I.e. one pair of running shoes. The above clothes count meant one pair socks on me, one pair in bags, one T shirt wearing, one in bags. Go as light as possible, take an inner tube and duct tape in case you cut a tire, otherwise tubeless. @mikehikebike happy trails!

I bought The anything cage in Helena thinking I needed more space. I ended up not really utilizing it much. I carried food and camera stuff out there at one point. But I left it on primarily for The Basin and all of New Mexico. It came in handy, but I probably could have done without it. Be cool, thanks for watching.
