    3:35 I love how Mohamed still had the courtesy to not walk in front of Lu until he started to stand back up even at a "light" weight. I've always imagined that athletes at that level mean mug each other in the warm-up room haha.

    Crazy to see Lu going up to 110 on muscle snatches and failing as his warmup. I guess he's so in synch with the movement that he needs to just get all his muscles firing more than he needs to get in the groove of actually snatching.

    I wonder why Su Ying missed so many (seemingly) snatches, and then didn't bother with jerks??? My guesses: - Snatches weren't in the right overhead position so gave up (or didn't bother to stand them up), as well as enough reserve strength left to continue with further warmup attempts - Jerks are so easy for him that it's only the clean that matters. Food for thought. He's such a smooth lifter, I wonder why he hasn't been more successful. (EDIT: realized he went 1/3 in CJ, maybe a shoulder niggle which affected his overhead therefore not confident in snatches, and saving energy for jerk?)

  • @Kaikojo

    @Kaikojo

    7 жыл бұрын

    My guess for why he doesn't complete the snatch is it may just be a drill/exercise. The technique is down if he can get into the hole of the snatch. Coming up is where a lot of energy is drained, so coaches may have told him to just catch the snatch, without squating it up. Not completely sure, your guess is as good as mine :-) I got nothing for the jerk tho. Shoulder issue would really explain both haha

  • @justinchu5940

    @justinchu5940

    It’s to save leg strength. The squating portion is the most taxing on the legs so they take it out completely during some mid- weight warm up reps

    It is indeed two different styles. The "stomping" is a jump. Many lifters believe that jumping is the correct way, while many also believe it should be a slide. The technique is pretty difficult for both, I don't think one is more technically difficult than the other. Will not deny that Chinese lifters all have their technique down to a t, but so do most of the lifters at the World Weightlifting Championships. "Stomping" does not mean that these competitors have bad technique. Many of the lifters who utilize the jump have trained for years to perfect that technique.
