    Sure looks like the halibut population is in good shape. Do you think the chickens are more tender and better eating than the 70 pounders?

  • @CaptainZac

    @CaptainZac

    7 ай бұрын

    Hi Brian thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed this halibut action! Yes indeed - at this spot the halibut were quite plentiful! Chickens are definitely very tasty but obviously have less yield than a 50-70 pound fish. The 50-70 pounders still taste wonderful but also have fillets with nice thickness. It is hard to beat a "nice chicken" in the 30-50lb range in terms of table fare! Happy New Year and tight lines in 2024 my friend! Captain Zac

    Hey @robbiekingston9055 that's not a stupid question. I either cut it up and keep it for crab bait or I deposit it back into the ocean (right off the cleaning table at the dock) for the crabs and fish to eat. Either way, it doesn't go to waste! I'll often keep rockfish and cod rib cages and bellies for halibut bait. Tight lines my friend! Captain Zac

    Hi Bradley Happy New Year and thanks for stopping by! I'll mention this to CAPT Mary haha. Yes - I actually grew up in PA so I return every year for whitetail hunting there. I got a nice 7pt with a rifle this year but have also taken countless archery whitetails over the years. I had some close calls with Sitka Blacktails and Black Bears this season near Juneau but no harvests. I'd love to get into moose hunting but that is proving hard to break into. How about you?
