In the part 0:38, shields have a cooldown of 0.25 seconds before blocking incoming damage so that's why he still died. So unfortunately, shields don't block instantly.

Like, if all you know about shields is that they block damage, of course you'll die to a Vindicator - because you don't know that a Vindicator's axe attack can - and will - stun the shield and the next hit kills you.

That's why I don't play hardcore. Sometimes the game fails and kills you when technically couldn't. Example the shield and creeepers

Remember kids When you go to nether, always use full fire resistant enchantment. If you got netherite equipments, you also get blast resistant If you got full fire resistant equipments, you can swim in the lava unhurt. Fire won't harm you. Stand on top of magma block won't hurt you too

After trying hardcore and getting blown up by a creeper after spending hourson my house, I decided to never play hardcore again

The thumbnail is what I always try to avoid. When I’m swimming with a drowned chasing me and I get in a boat, I’ll boat away as quickly as possible so the drowned can’t get in my boat

Some of these Hardcore deaths end with such big emotion; Yet... Score: 2369 If you lose a Hardcore world with less than 100,000... you've lost nothing really Its ok.
