I just checked Wiktionary that ため was written as 為. But いる (iru) as in てい used to be written as 為る(wiru). I suppose the "w" consonant was dropped in Japanese at some point in time. But in any case, my real question is why do they pronounce so differently, when it is the same Kanji 為?

I'm not sure if 為る can be read as いる!

@@MasaSensei It is from a very short paragraph in wiktionary. en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%E3%82%90%E3%82%8B#Japanese ゐ is 為 in Chinese, meaning "being". For example, In Japanese, you say なっている which is really なる + て + いる which was originally なる + て + ゐる. In Chinese, they say "成為" which has exactly the same meaning, i.e., "has become". Of course, Chinese is a MESS. No one cares about fixing Chinese grammar. So, Chinese writing is like "free style wrestling". LOL

Masa teacher,I have watched your videos. And base on some grammar structures in lesson 65-75,I wrote this paragraph ,can you correct it for me.
