As someone who's been tinkering with datapack modding for my own use with experience making mods for a couple other games, 100% agree. Anything that gives you drag-and-drop modding options, especially that don't require any external mod loaders, is a massive boon. I haven't even gotten into exploring the mechanics of functions, structures, or dimensions and yet I've still found a ton of trivial tweaks I've been able to mess with.

Laurin Neff Let me put it this way. For a player in PE in the old days, Netherrack was more valuable than diamonds because I’m pretty sure a Nether reactor core cost 3 or 5 diamonds, and you could only get limited netherrack because the reactor core spawned in a type of ‘mini nether’

Literally exactly what I just experienced. I played Minecraft a little bit on my friend's Xbox in 2012 here and there. I had a lot of fun but it was so tedious and monotonous that I never got super into it. I can't believe some of the quality of life improvements they've added

When Mambo talked about bats I laughed. And then I remembered a time where I was about to die in hardcore...... Fear shocked are watching and arrow flying towards me. 10 hours of progress wasted. Lol building in creative and doing anything around a cave. I constantly feel the need to flood them with lava to stop those buggers from making their damn noises. And sometimes you need the difficulty not at peaceful and then you have to deal with mob noises. And we need more lighting options.

@@loganhudson9801 only the skeleton horses are worth anything imo. Getting regular ones across water is a drag. Id much rather just use a mending ub3 elytra with fireworks.

I remember that to get to the nether you had to make a structure 3x3x2 using really expensive blocks. When it was complete it would make a very tall tower made out of nether brick.

The last one made me think: Bats dropping their fangs. Put it in a brewing stand. Get health stealing potions. When you attack something, you get health back.

Fun fact : The update that introduced sneaking(Alpha v1.1.1) had a bug called the grey screen bug which would turn your entire screen grey(Even the windows that arent minecraft) until you closed the game. Alpha v1.1.1 was also the one and only Secret Saturday update. So because of the grey screen bug Notch decided to delete the update and fastly fix the bug and make Alpha v1.1.2. The Alpha v1.1.1 didnt even appear in the new version selectable launcher. It was lost for a long time. Until OmniArchive found someone who had the .jar file and the file was succesfully archived!

Alpha v1.1.1 is not in the launcher not because of the reasons you mention, but because Mojang just didn't add two thirds of the old versions to the launcher, either because they were lost or because they didn't have them anymore.

Hey, I remember when beds didn't set your spawn point! Back then, the wisdom was to never set your base too far from spawn, and to mark spawn somehow. I used towers. Good stuff. I'm so glad we have beds now.

I think the introduction of Phantoms were a game-changer. It meant that you could now repair an Elytra if you didn’t have mending on it. Also Phantoms are super cool in my opinion. They sound cool, they look cool, and they are very easy to deal with. It’s also a game-changer because of how many people got upset over the implementation of a mob _they voted for._

Agreed. Phantoms are not bad. Terraria players deal with uncalled for flying mobs all the time, you don't see them complaining

At the time breaking a block was saved between swapping in your hotbar so you could start mining with a gold puck then swap to diamond to have nearly the speed of gold with the durability of diamond

I miss when I used to remember EVERY recipe but then I took like a year long break from Minecraft and then the recipe book became my favorite thing in the game.

sharpfang, with enchanted books, you can actually sort through the garbage and get the useful enchants. If it still used 30 levels, there’s no way an xp farm would be able to supply enough experience.

That was me at 7, I loved making minecart tracks all the time when I first played, then when I got Minecraft on the Xbox I had a world where I just made statues and stuff, and I also play computer with my friends but all we did was mess with commands, and make cool bases. When I finally did get into survival (just a few years ago) I had to watch a lot of videos to know what I was doing, but now I have a main world that I started in January, with big plans

@@Blockmaster2706 That is exactly me. I stopped playing in 1.8 and now that I've started playing again I still have all those recipes memorized. I'm kinda sad you don't have to memorize them anymore, tho. I know it makes it more accessible to new players and younger players but it was kinda part of being in the community and a point of pride that veteran players could craft anything, no matter how complicated, from memory without needing the wiki anymore. That's how you knew you'd graduated to a full member of the community.

Sure, but those things couldn't be powered yet. You had to rely on weird bugs in minecart collision and make little side loops with minecarts on them along your track to boost you along the rail.

My bigest game changes/predictions for the vid before watching it. Elytra, Firework rockets with elytras, observers, pistons, new villager update, combat (for better or for worse), concrete, mending, sprint button (I remember Minecraft didn't have a button for sprinting until I think 1.7, you had to double tap W). Also skulk sensors but this vid was of course before that was a thing.

Name tags don't work on wandering traders or their llamas when they are still tied to them. In your first case, they were still tied to thee trader. In your second case, they weren't.

Joined into minecraft EARLY (Played in elementary school back when it was a browser type game). Then joined in again at 1.2 (Didnt this update last like a year or smthn?) and played right untill horses were added. After being away for a few years, it crazy to see how much minecraft has grown since around then.

I remember when Elytra came out I was playing minecraft but not super often really, and I didn't keep up with updates much, so when I heard there were WINGS in survival mode I was amazed and I spent a whole day messing around and flying about
